Hollywood-Tourist
Do you think neglecting yourself to the extent of deliberately missing or cancelling hospital appointments or dentist appointments could be classed as a mental health issue especially if your reasons for not going are because you 'can't be bothered' or that you 'aren't in the mood?' Asking out of concern for a friend. Thanks

Author Hollywood-Tourist
The question is way too vague to offer a response. Ok, so for instance: My friend requires regular treatment in hospital for physiotherapy after an accident and normally attended with no problems. Now his attitude is that he can't be bothered because it is too much hassle having to go out and attend the treatment. I'm concerned he may be depressed hence why he seems to be neglecting himself medically.
Redhead14
Your friend is lazy, irresponsible, non-committal and myopic in terms of his recovery. He doesn't have a mental health problem. He's just a dummy. To venture a guess -- he doesn't want to fully recover so that he can continue collecting disability????
Garcon1986
That depends on the diagnosis and the specific type of physiotherapy. The diagnosis of depression should be made by his GP. Ultimately we can't force each other to go to the doctor, but you should sit down with him and have a good long talk, friend to friend to sort it out.
