I'm just curious what you guys think of doing drugs occasionally and going out clubbing. Let's do a little poll:

 

Who has done any drugs? (dope, coke, ez, etc.)?

 

And where are you from?

 

What's your opinion on doing drugs? Is it just a fun thing to do every now and then? Does it make you unfaithful? Is it ok for parents or your partner to have to "odd line"?

The only drugs I have done are the kind that grow out of the ground and are in their natural dried-out form: pot and shrooms. I don't really trust anything else.

1. I think its a personal choice, just like drinking alcohol - a choice not made lightly. Some people use it, others abuse it.

 

2. It used to be. I only dropped shrooms once to see what altered perception was like. Once was enough. I smoked a lot of pot in my day, but I haven't really been too interested in it in the past few years.

 

3. Nope. You are either unfaithful or you are not. Drugs or alcohol just drop the inhibition for already existing urges.

 

4. I'm guessing you mean lines of coke? I personally don't do it, and neither does my partner - neither of us have even tried it, nor do we want to. Since cocaine is highly addictive, I'd at least express a strong warning about it and displeasure over it being used. Mainly, I guess because I have seen more than a couple of friends and aquaintances throw their lives away over coke and heroin. Nothing against the use of it, so much as the fallout from it from potentially getting hooked.

Dope, mainly in my teens and twenties. Still now and again, but only as a real chill out treat with a glass of wine. I've never been a really regular user.

 

Never ever tried crack or heroin - both were always right outside of my boundaries, and I only know a couple of people who say they've tried either. They're just no nos. Other things such as speed, coke, acid and mushies I tried a couple of times each, years ago. E, I took every once in a while in my early twenties, and have taken a couple of times over the last few years to spice things up with the guy I was seeing until last summer.

 

Nothing I've ever taken has led me to have sex with someone I wouldn't have otherwise had sex with. There's no denying that sex on E is incredible, but there's also a downer in knowing that a really great intimate moment is coming from an artificial source rather than from within yourself. Also, there's the obvious medical concerns.

 

The main thing for me, when I used things like that, was that I wouldn't get them direct from a hard core dealer, because I simply didn't know any. It was always through a male friend. One time, when I was about 17, I took speed on his recommendation that I would have the night of my life. I did, so the next week I asked him for some more - but he refused. He was very much about giving me the opportunity to try things, but restraining me from overdoing it. I suppose some people would say he was still irresponsible, but all things considered I think his approach was fairly realistic. It depends on your perspective, I suppose.

 

I can't, therefore, comment on whether it's possible to just take it now and again "for fun." If it had been easier for me to get hold of that sort of stuff, I might have got into problems back then. Who knows? Now and again I bump into people I used to hang around with years ago. They use quite heavily (though mainly just dope). Although they're not out and out wasters, I'd say that they're not doing too brilliantly. No doubt they'd disagree.

I distance myself as far away from drug users as possible, as I was a coke/meth addict from the ages of 20-23. I will not allow myself anywhere near the stuff, even though I have been drug free for 14 years now.

Not with me it isn't. If someone else (not in my circle of friends and family) wants to do it - that's their issue. I do not accept it with any tolerance in my circle.

Does it make you unfaithful?

It made me unfaithful to the world around me and those that cared about me. When I did drugs, that was all I was faithful too. Nothing else existed

Is it ok for parents or your partner to have to "odd line"?

Nope. Unacceptable, and grounds for termination from hanging out with me.

1. I have smoked marijuana probably a few tens of times when I was a teenager and have tried hashish twice when I was 20. I haven't tried anything else nor do I intend to.

3. I am very much against any drugs stronger than pot and I could accept smoking pot by my partner if he does it no more than once or twice a month. But thank god, he doesn't. I would be very upset if I find out that my sons do any drugs some day, even pot.

 

I believe that regular use of drugs pretty much guarantees lack of reliability and responsibility. How would you feel if you knew that the pilot flying the airplane you're in uses cocain often? Or the guy who controlled the assembly of your car? Or your children's school bus driver? Or the surgeon operating your heart? I don't care if my kids' teacher smokes pot or drinks vodka on Saturday night, but she better be completely sober on Monday morning.

 

In my city a drug addict shot and killed an 11-year old boy, because he wanted to steal his money (and he had like $3). Drugs not only destroy the addicts' lives, but often affect other people's lives too.

I've smoked weed number of times, and hash on one occasion. That's it. I know I'd never try smack (I'm a needle-phobe), and I doubt I'd try coke. Nowadays, I probably smoke weed once every other month or so.

 

I'm from British Columbia... home of the famous BC bud. And it's all but legal up here.

 

I see the "soft" drugs as not much more harmful than alcohol... I'm an "everything in moderation" kind of person. The soft drugs can be fun, something to do with friends or a significant other. It's only in the last year and a half that I discovered "stoned sex".

 

It doesn't automatically make you unfaithful. If you're going to cheat when stoned, you were going to do it anyway -- being stoned just makes it easier to justify it to yourself at the time.

 

I've dated a couple of women who say they've done coke in the past. But I wouldn't get involved with somebody who still did it -- I don't need them stealing from me to support a habit.

1. Ive tried just about everything that I have come a accross.

2. All over is the best answer. I've lived in 8 states and 2 countries.

3. It's different for everyone. I never had a problem with my personal use. I had fun, but I've seen people do a lot of stupid things and I've seen people struggle with addiction.

4. For some people, yes. For other people it takes over thier lives. Just like alchohol.

6. If that is possible. Coke is a scary drug. I don't have an addictive personality. I get bored with things like that too easily. I wouldn't try to use a drug like coke or heroin on any kind of regular or occasional basis.

i have done pot, coke, estacy, and abused Rx drugs, like oxy, vicodin, purcs.

 

i did not do any drugs until i was 19, outta highscholl, and visiting my sister in college. she smoked and dealt some pot then. WE lived in Alabama.

none of my friends in high school did any drugs or drank, so i never did. i did smoke cigs though, but i was the only one of my friends that did.

 

i only smoke bud now, because i know if i did anymore coke, i would be ano addict, plus i am a b!tch coming down. Ex-, i will never do again..... although i used to do it every weekend. I do believe it "eats" away your brain, it is tooo expensive, it is way too risky, as it is cut with all sorts of s***.

Somehow I managed to avoid being exposed to drugs at all during my younger years when I might have been more tempted to partake. Alot of people can't believe I've never tried anything, but its the truth. By the time I actually had the opportunity to actually try some, I was mature enough not to want to.

Honestly, if it were legal, I'd probably try pot. But, the ramifications are so great that if I were caught or failed a drug test, I just don't think its worth it.

 

As for any drugs, I think they are a dead end street and a waste of time, money and energy. I've drank more in the last year due to a stressful relationship with my ex boyfriend and I have realized that it only makes everything worse.

Oh, and I'm from the south. Born and raised in Atlanta, lived in Italy and Viriginia and now settled in Tennessee which is home to me.

I'm a 24 year old lawyer from Australia.

 

I started drinking alcohol at 19 (after I had finished exams and got into uni - finally, party time!), and did the whole binge drinking thing for the next few years. When I was 21 I began taking ecstasy and had the greatest time of my life every second weekend for about a year. Of course, soon enough the e stopped working its magic, and I hadn't seen my friends in 6 months, so I began drinking with them again. I no longer had any tolerance for alcohol though and could only have 5 drinks, which put me out of the loop again. So at 22 I began taking coke while drinking, to keep me party-hearty.

 

In 2 years it's gone from a once-a-month habit to a weekly habit. I also take crystal, ketamine, GBH and smoke pot occasionally (every few months) but coke is my drug of choice. None of my friends use drugs, or even drink that much anymore, and they have no idea that every time I've seen them over the past 2 years I have been high on something. I've probably spent the equivalent of a year's income on drugs in the past 3 years but I've been having so much fun (more fun than anyone else I know) I couldn't care less. I work extremely hard throughout the week and I deserve to do what I want on the weekend. It makes my life exciting.

Have you got any time-scale for addressing this? It does seems inevitable that a few people in your firm will have guessed about your weekend habit. Colleagues who have practised in criminal law will, for instance, probably pick up on the signs that your less knowledgeable friends are failing to notice. Also, don't rule out the prospect of subtle/jokey comments being made to colleagues by criminal clients who know your supplier.

 

Whilst people might be turning a blind eye just now, you will really need to watch out if you happen to get embroiled in any office politics or start visibly suffering from the visible, medical and financial effects of long term drug use. I read what you're saying about wanting an exciting life....but on the off-chance that you have any private concerns about what you're doing, I'm sure you'll find a sympathetic ear or two in the addiction section of the forum.

I have smoked pot a few times along time ago. Once I got a hold of some that I just didn't like at all. A friend said sounded like it was laced because I was trippin hard. After that experience, I didn't do it again. Personally I didn't like the feeling of major paranoia, not knowing where I was. Couldn't feel my legs or feet when I walked, and I felt as if I tried to smile my face would crack! Some people may like that feeling, but I didn't.

I watched my gf's sister die on her couch of a overdose when I was in 6th grade. I think that pretty much put the fear in me before I even had a chance to be curious. I think doing any kind of drug is irresponsible. I've had enough experiences being around others while under the influence of drugs and it wasn't pleasant. I have also been physically, mentally, and emotionally abused by family and friends under the influence of drugs. I am very against any form of use.

Does it make you unfaithful?

I would say, YES.. Every man I have ever been involved with has been unfaithful to me while under the influence.

 

*I have never done a illegal drug in my life yet it has greatly had a impact on my life and not in a possitive way. I'm not tolerant of anyone who uses or is under the influence when I am around.. Even family...

I have drank but nothing else guess im weird and pathetic lol .. i hung around with people that smoked pot but i never felt the need to do it.. i guess it cause they acted so paranoid and stupid i thought what do i want to act that way!! I have done them all except heroin. Which by the way lindya, is dope now a days. When you said that you did dope I was like NO WAY! But then you said with wine and I smoke WEED all the time when I drink.

My favorite is coke. My Bf doesn't let me do it so i stopped but I miss it. I always had a good time. He doesn't let me do any drugs besides smoke the massive amounts of weed that I do. I love drugs. I have been doing them for about 6 years. I hate when people say you'll turn into an addict blah blah. After 6 years of doing drugs, socially...about 4 times a month (hard drugs that is, I smoke like 4 times a week) you would think i would be an addict. My philosophy is, if i can do these drugs, whether it be coke, E, speed, acid, If i can continue to have a great job and my life is not in jeopardy......SNIFF IT UP!!!!!

1. I did everything backwards. First drug I tried? heroin. I did it once. NEVER again. Then I tried pot. Smoked it almost daily for 3 years and didn't drink at all. Now only alcohol, with a rare bit of pot (4 times in 5 years).

 

2. Originally South Carolina, gotten as far away as North Carolina. The heroin trial was on a trip to Philly though.

 

3. Pot, occassionally, no biggy. Alcohol social, okay. Anything else = BAD NEWS.

i have done plenty of them...i wont really go in to too much details...i almost died(thats how i feel) from e( witch i had taken 5) not all at once...but gradually....my heart was beating so fast..i was so paranoid..my lips were dry and shivereld up.

I can honestly say that I've never done any illicit drugs. In other words no controlled substances like marijuana, hash, smack etc.

 

I did go through a heavy drinking phase when I was in my late teens and early 20's, but that's about as bad as I got.

 

And where are you from?

 

I am from the Deep South of the United States, where social attitudes toward drugs tends to be conservative, but where just about everyone I knew growing up did at least a few joints. I was one of the few who didn't. Not because I was any more moral, but just afraid that I wouldn't be able to stop once I started. My dad was going through rehab in my senior year in HS so that kinda affected me a little.

 

Currently, I live in Japan, which has ultra conservative attitudes toward drugs. Get caught with so much as a joint here, and you can expect to spend a good year in jail before being deported - and yet there are some dumb@sses here who do it.

 

As tough as Japan is, it's liberal compared to the rest of Asia. Get caught with a joint in Singapore and Malaysia, and you can expect hard time, with a few whacks of the rotan cane to boot. Get caught with a little bag of it??? Death by hanging. No questions asked.

 

What's your opinion on doing drugs?

 

Personally, I don't want drugs legalized, but I don't think society benefits from sending someone to jail over a few joints or a hit of smack. I try not to sit in judgment over someone who does an occasional joint inside the privacy of his or her own home. But I have to confess that I really don't spend a lot of time around someone once I know they use drugs, even if only recreationally. I just don't have time to get caught up in any s*** they might be getting themselves into.
