Logo
I read somewhere that texting or talking on the phone between dates in the early stages of dating is a bad idea. Can someone refresh my memory as to why that is?
GTR King
Too much texting/calling is between dates is bad. Usually Few messages between dates/ 1-2 short phone calls will do.. you need stuff to talk about on the date not say everything before then
Author Logo
So one reason is to leave things to say during the date. What if the chemistry is there and the two find themselves talking or texting without running low on topics in the foreseeable future, what could be another good reason? Art_Critic
I think anytime you spend getting to know someone is a good thing not a bad thing... You still have to give them room, not be smothering but there is nothing wrong with texting and talking between dates.. in fact as the relationship progresses thru the phases such as sex if you don't call and text on between dates then you send the wrong message to them. Don't believe in there actually being any rules.. there are not any.. just be respectful of their time as you get to know them...

Curiousroxy86
Nothing wrong with it as long as both parties want to
snowboy91
Nothing wrong with it as long as both parties want to This. If the idea of wanting to talk to the person you've been on a few dates with makes you happy (because they're super interesting etc), and they feel the same way, then sure. If you're seeing it as a way to force *some* relationship to develop, then maybe not such a good idea.

Author Logo
When in doubt, err on the side of caution? How do you know the frequency at which you’re supposed to text, too much and it becomes a nuisance, too little and the other person might think you have low interest? So what do you do? When my partner and I started dating we talked on the phone quite a bit. We also texted all the time as well. One thing though, we gave each other space such as knowing when the other was working, busy etc. I dated a guy who smothered me, it was tiring. He wanted attention 24/7 and thought I was cheating when I didn't want to talk on the phone for hours after being w/him all day. Do whats comfortable for you both.
GTR King
If someone likes you they won't mind you calling/texting them, but when they are busy e.g working/seeing friends or not feeling well etc that's when you should step back and let them contact you... no need for 24/7 contact for me few times a day anything from 10-20 texts 5-30mins phone call will do for me anymore than that is too much as do I do like to have my own time and wanna have more to say when we meet up Edited March 5, 2019 by GTR King
