My husband has this thing he does, when I am talking to him explaning situations, senarios, something that happens at work, with friends, anything, he has this way about ( i dont know how to explain it, its hard to) asking me questions about what im saying. No problem, the thing is the question will be a stupid question causing confusion to me about what im saying! I could see if this was once or twice, but its every time I talk to him. My gut and my heart just sinks when he does this. I feel like he is implying that im stupid or something. A diversion maybe? I dont know? I was hoping someone could tell me what this is called? Or explain to me what he is doing? I am talking to him and he will say something not pertaining to what im talking about? Recently I got a bonus at work and I was telling him how much my bonus was, he says " someone at work got a bonus for X amount ( that wasnt even close to the amount I just told him plus I was talking about me not someone at work) I dont know if you all understand, but someone please clear this up for me. Like I said this is EVERY time i talk to him. Not a one time thing

If he did this before you got married and you married him anyway, I think you have to live with it.

If he started this recently, maybe he fell and loosened some motor neurons or transmitters in his brain. A neurologist can ascertain any brain dysfunction he may have developed.

If he's been this way all along, it could be a habit or he may just be so unsure of how to handle a conversation he says the first thing that comes to mind. There's also a possiblity he has an inferiority complex and by bringing in new material outside the scope of your conversation, he is trying to force some intellect he doesn't possess...and he makes a fool of himself in the process.

It sounds like a very bad habit to me. Get him into therapy and have a program developed for him to help him stamp out this habit. People can get just as addicted to habits as they can to drugs, Coca Cola, Internet forums, etc.

Seriously, it could very well be a brain dysfunction that must be treated. I'm not kidding when I say he may need to see a neurologist.

Good luck.

i personally think that, yes he is trying to make you feel low, i feel as though you should keep to yourself for about 1 to 2 wks and see if he comes to you and is concerned about why you havent told him any news lately and if he does i feel as though he is playing a mind game with you.
