PhillyLibertyBelle
Hi everyone.. I’m finally at the tail end of a bout with mild pneumonia (and am hopeful to have a restful night of uninterrupted sleep soon!) I also had a head cold, perhaps sinusitis to go along with the joy of pneumonia. Now that I’m finally starting to “dry out” from a constantly running nose and productive (and disgusting!) cough, my sinuses seem to be making a crackling and popping sound I can hear inside my head but not audible to others. It’s starting to drive me a bit mad. Has anyone had this or know how to ease it? I am trying to be patient with rest and recovery but this is just so annoying! Thanks ! preraph
Sounds like congestion. But in case it's dryness, take a steamy shower and see if it helps it any. If so, keep it humid in your room for awhile. Sounds like something you might need decongestant pseudoephedrine (at the pharmary but not prescription in the US) for. Ask your doc. Author PhillyLibertyBelle
Thanks preraph I will try a humidifier and if that doesn’t help I’ll make an appointment with the GP. I’m currently covered in Vicks!
preraph
I think humidity might help. Hope so anyway. Yeah, if it doesn't, need to be sure it's not something more sinister! Feel better soon.
Author PhillyLibertyBelle
After being awake again all night coughing I’ve booked in with the doctors this afternoon. Let’s hope I can kick this for my neighbours’ sake!
JuneL
After being awake again all night coughing I’ve booked in with the doctors this afternoon. Let’s hope I can kick this for my neighbours’ sake! Perhaps you can go straight to an ENT doctor? Personally I’m quite picky about doctors. I like to see a good specialist directly even for relatively minor stuff and I need to really understand what’s going on...

Doctors update: I still have pneumonia and it has triggered my asthma something fierce. I’ve had a chest X-ray and so far: I have a fever More antibiotics Prednisone More seratide Less rescue inhaler Some mouth rinse because more seratide gives me mouth thrush (disgusting) Referral to pulmonologist and ENT So you’re right on target. He said if anything gets worse to call an ambulance and go straight to the emergency room. My Auntie who is 80 but is in perfect health and still runs 10ks(!!) is here helping out so she won’t take any of my nonsense and will force me to go to emergency if needed. Thanks for the great advice (and preraph too)

My best friend was prescribed small dosages of prednisone for a few days and she had horrible nightmares as side effects. Make sure to taper it off properly, as there can be pretty bad withdrawal symptoms.

Author PhillyLibertyBelle
Hope you feel better. Glad your auntie can help out. My best friend was prescribed small dosages of prednisone for a few days and she had horrible nightmares as side effects. Make sure to taper it off properly, as there can be pretty bad withdrawal symptoms. They specifically told me to take the prednisone in the morning or said I’d have a horrible, sleepless night. Also they said that I’d swell up like a balloon and my face would be puffy. Joy!
StandingO
Yes, had this. Was mild pneumonia. Then told asthma related to allergies. I had weezing congestion coughing non stop. Steam and humidifier helped. It will get better if you keep on top of it and follow up with the doc
