Starting EMDR again this afternoon

Starting EMDR again this afternoon.

Not looking forward to it but looking forward to the hoped for results.

It's been helpful in the past.

Not really a big deal, but kind of like going to the dentist knowing have a few cavities.

Have a project they want shipped today, so having my appointment in the middle of the day is not great, but hopefully I can get it out anyway.

Hope it goes well for you. I don't know much about it. Just saw a little demo online. If it's worked for you in the past, it should work again, sounds like. I guess it's something you have to do when it gets bad, huh?

I'm not familiar with EMDR, had to google it. Why are you not looking forward to it, is there something unpleasant about it or just inconvenient?

Best of luck for good results.

It's all for the best if it gives you a chance to put some things behind you. I read up on it. But good luck.

We did an easy target so it was not too emotional.

Its the fact that it can be emotional that I don't like.

I don't know about whether it was getting bad or not, this the 2nd "A season". He had said I was doing pretty good, I think, but I mentioned I was bottling some **** up and feeling a bit stuck, so we're targeting some problematic things that kind of set me off sometimes.

I am kind of zombie like sometimes and things come out sideways unexpectedly on occasion, so this should help.

I wish I could offer something positive to post, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you are going through.

That seems to be a trend with me. Recently, I helped my girlfriend do a real good Spring Cleaning of her apartment. I mean scrub brush kind of clean. It took us all day, but I was quite satisfied with a job well done. The next day, she told me she was depressed. I asked if she was depressed because all of the dirt was gone?? She said "no" but couldn't put a finger on why she was depressed.

Then she repeated her typical frustration with me, calling me "stupid happy". I'm too stupid to know I shouldn't be happy. I guess I'm satisfied with the small things that I do have and really don't want for bigger & better. Moreover, I took joy in the cleaning with a "job well done" feeling of accomplishment.

I guess the only thing I can offer to you, is try to find some joy in the small things in life. I do hope you feel better.

Its mostly about processing and letting go of some things that remind me of my wife's affair she had in 2017, and getting rid of some negative thoughts about myself.

But it was OK, NBD as they say.

Thanks all for the support.

I have been meaning to take some time for myself. That "stupid happy" comment would get me pretty angry I imagine, but like most things, it depends on context I suppose.

It was not meant with malice... Perhaps she should have used "simple happy", meaning the simple things in life bring me happiness and I don't really envy other people, their possessions or how they live their lives. I just live my life... my way, finding joy along the journey.

As an example, I went for a glorious bicycle ride in the early morning. It brought me a huge amount of joy, the weather was perfect, it was very quiet and I just had fun in my own world at peace. It set me up for a great day!

I've written this many times, so if you have read it before, I apologize... A wise Hindu man once told me "Control the Controllables" You can't control the actions of another person. I doubt this statement helps you let go of this "negative thoughts", but it has brought me solace in difficult times.

Good luck. I hope it does the trick. I did it for a while (several rounds in a few months) and it was very effective. Fascinating process too.
