My positive attitude on being "odd" is that person out there for me likely has the same problem...so we'd be like two peas in a pod. The odd pod!

OkCupid's numbers show weirdos (like with lots of tats and crazy colored hair or whatever, for instance) got the almost the same exact ratings as their conventionally "good looking" but "generic" counterparts.

There were more low scores (from those who weren't not into that), yet more high ratings from people who were into the more edgy look.

Dave from Boyinaband goes into it really well here:

Being an odd sock myself, most of those "weirdo" ladies are super appealing to me. I agree 100% with the findings. Honestly, IME, they're often far more laid back and cool than the usual, basic party girl at a trendy dance club. Some of you "normies" are really unhinged and just dress normal. That's about it! Trainwrecks abound in the suburbs. Fact.

As for me, what I'm doing wrong, I couldn't tell you, haha! I fail utterly at being quirky-hot, but that's another topic entirely.

Just thought l'd drop back and let anyone interested know for what it's worth.

A friend just joined pof here , in OZ, and l was looking through it with him even spoke to a few girls myself.

Might pay to give it another look these days because l wouldn't know about where everyone is but here they've really cleaned it up. No dead profiles lots of nice ladies, real, plenty of them online and using it, the friends been talking to a lot already, he's lovin it.

lt's certainly a serious contender again now here at the moment, it's a really good site, as compared to the dead wasteland it was when l joined it myself way back when.

lf they haven't already cleaned it all up there yet it could be coming soon, keep your eye on it..

I'd believe that. Match is sketch A.F., in my opinion.

Just asking for my friend he has someone he's very keen on but the pics don't look right, more like a movie star or mag.

He couldn't find anything reverse image is there anything else you can do to check them ?

You can try reverse image search or TinEye, but a lot of obvs fake profiles don't come up. I had one girl that matched with me be a Canadian alternative model no where near me, which I flagged the account and let her know her pics were being used... but a lot of the time I think they're just mined from places that recomp/remeta the images upon upload (like Facebook, Imgur, etc.) so the algorithm doesn't catch them... or the scumbags are just using the longest dead profiles left active and bump them back up in the activity pile.

Or you could just arrange to meet. That will answer all these questions better than any internet sleuthing.

Yeah, after a few exchanges inquiring about a (safe) public meetup spot like a coffee shop after work or a weekend afternoon is completely acceptable. It's the ultimate filter.

I found asking them what their favorite part of town (or local restaurant, etc.) is shuts them down real quick too because the scammers generally aren't local.

If you can't tell, B.S. matches are all I got on dating apps, LOL!

LOL I'd also add being asked to meet in a Walmart parking lot at night. Like what?! Didn't agree to that of course.

(That was one of my few interactions from a free OLD app, what a mistake that app was.)

Sweet cosmos, no, that's a baaaaaaad way to filter! No real woman (or man, for that matter) should agree to that!

That's weird , we searched everything last night zero came up anywhere with her pics.

Yeah she's a few hours away so they can't just meet so anyway he's gonna try a call see what he gets.

Yah when she asked me to meet her there I figured prostitute or mugging, or both :) she wasn’t up for my counter proposal of a hip bar/restaurant not 2 min away on a well lit hopping street.

All the matches I seem to get lately are trying to "sell their pictures".

B___, I'm on the internet. It's 50% free pictures/videos of naked women! There's nothing you can do to impress me at this point.

Could we just get some actual women on here looking for, you know, dates? You know, start there?

:) Get your point. From my experience, my age, location, etc. Match has provided a ton of real women, who reach out, respond and want to date. Dates and even sex are not my “issue” it’s more the right person at the right time in life.

As an aside, was thinking have you tried political organizations, events etc. thinking the non-basic, non-party girl I believe you are looking for could be found there...seems a kindred spirit thing.

Sure there is Mr_ybor! https://www.sortitionfoundation.org/ :)

Dang, no Tampa chapter. That's fine I suppose. I only think about politics in intermittent flights of fancy in my usual lucidity of cosmic nihilism, LOL.

"You know, this whole system would work better if... nah, nevermind, they'll never go for it. When's the next gamma ray burst hit?" -Literally the inside of my head :p

Edit: I like that there's two in the foundation in Phoenix. I'll bet it's my buddy Mike (an anthropologist) who turned me onto the concept, and his equally brainy youngest daughter. It's literally where they live, haha!
