Mizz Layta
My ex and I were on and off for few years until he met someone who lives closer to him. Then he would periodically reach out from time to time only to go cold again. We haven't spoken for 4 years. last time we spoke he dropped me like bad habit and I was hurt. now he has been reaching out on face book and wondering if I'm getting his messages. I'm kind of annoyed. I want him to stay gone. I haven't responded but part me is thinking to text him using a burner number and tell him not to contact me again then delete it. I was doing fine without him and hearing from him has opened old wounds Would ignoring be effective since he isn't sure if I'm receiving his messages ? in the past he kept trying to reach out
CautiouslyOptimistic
You don't have to get a burner phone. Just block him on Facebook. If you want to say "please leave me alone" first, do that.
Beendaredonedat
Would ignoring be effective since he isn't sure if I'm receiving his messages ? in the past he kept trying to reach out How about you just respond to him that you've gotten his messages but you are not interested in talking to him and then block him? YOU close the door then you solve the problem. Why is it you haven't just done that simple little thing?
Beachead
@Mizz Layta I want him to stay gone. I was doing fine without him and hearing from him has opened old wounds Then block him. He won't be able to contact you again. Might take a week or 2 to shrug it off but you'll put it out of your head and carry on because you're unattached and uninvested. If you tell him off, you might wake up the next morning regretting something you said. That might make you want to apologize which might lead you back to him. You also give him an opportunity to say things to you and to begin getting inside your head again. The more this goes on, the more it'll send you back to where you were. - Beach
basil67
Lucky that FB has a 'block' function. Much easier than a burner phone.
Author Mizz Layta
I already blocked but the problem is he doesn't have a real face book accounts. He always open a throw away accounts to contact me when ever he loses contact with me . When I block him, he always opens another page months later..which was he did last time.blocking that page is futile that's why I was wondering I should just tell him not to contact me..which is something I never did before as I always went back to him

Also, adjust your settings so that only people you are Facebook friends with can send you messages. Easy peasy.
Beachead
@Mizz Layta You can set up your privacy settings to receive messages only from friends. All other messages from people not on your contact list will be filtered or considered spam, and won't go through to you. If this doesn't work, tell him off. - Beach Edited July 25, 2019 by Beachead
