how to exercise again

Recommended Posts

I use to exercise since I was 19 years old till I was about 25 years old at least 4 times a week even if I was tired. Now I am 28 years old and for the last 3 years have been caught up with work, study etc and have not made time. I have now stopped all forms of exercise. I don't understand why. And I know its not good for me to not be fit. The only reason I could think of is because I don't care for my body as much as I did I use to but I don't know what happened I am always so tired and I don't want to participate in anything anymore I don't feel happy with my body but don't have the heart to do anything more.

Anyone got any ideas on how to improve on exercise. I feel so out of touch.

What have people beend doing to motivate themselves? Got any ideas or suggestions?

Playing sports all my life has messed up my body somewhat, so I have to do things in moderation, but I still manage to work out three times a week. I alter my routine according to the season, just to make things interesting. After work I'll either walk for an hour, ride my stationary bike for 20 minutes and do toning exercises, run some wind sprints, or swim (usually when it's warmer out).

Diet is probably more important than exercise... what you eat can haunt you, no matter how hard you exercise.

I motivate myself at age 37 by saying that this is going to be the year that I have the greatest body I have ever had in my lifetime. This motivation, plus my need to get out alot of aggression and frustration from work, really helps me to push myself to my max limit 6 days a week in the gym.

I was in the same stage you are feeling, about 5 months ago. Hadn't exercised in a long time, and had gotten quite out of shape, depressed, and unmotivated. Then I found my inner motivation, and just forced/pushed myself to achieve it. So far 53 pounds, 9" off my waist, and my bodyfat is down to 9%. It took one hell of alot of "digging deep" to keep this up early on, but once you start seeing the results of your hard work, the motivation to keep going gets much much easier.

Find your drive to achieve, and half the battle is already won :)

Cheers

You have to really want it. Find a goal for yourself and push yourself to reach it. If you can force yourself to exercise every day for about 2-3 weeks you'll kickstart the habit and you can cut back but you'll still want to exercise frequently. Also, change up your routine. Nothing can kill your desire to exercise like boredom with your routine. Good luck. :)

There's a book called "Body for Life" after I read it, I spent 6 months working out and fixing myself in the process. From that I became more powerful, more confident, more clear about life, set life goals, and got a lot of sex action from it.

"Body for Life" worked for me, and worked for many many others, and it may work for you.

Promise yourself that you will do one form of exercise a week. You have to get used to exercising again. If you set your goals too high (working out every single day) you will not be motivated. It takes time to get back into the swing of things. So, start small so that you dont wear yourself out.

I believe that when you finally get fed up with the way you look/feel, you will hit the gym again. I have Army pt 3 days a week, but they're more cardio than anything. Therefore, on my days off, I sometimes want to hit the gym to keep building mass, but I'm too tired/busy/etc. I get to the point where I'm fed up that I'm not doing what I want, and I go. You just have to convince yourself to go just ONCE, and the feeling you get from that will make you want to hit it every day again...trust me :D.

I am always so tired and I don't want to participate in anything anymore I don't feel happy with my body but don't have the heart to do anything more.

Lack of exercise can do that to you, making you always feel tired and not wanting to do anything... been through that cycle myself a few times and can tell the symptoms now (for me anyway)

When you start getting into a routine of regular exercise again you will feel more alive, confident, ready to go ... regular exercise really gets you going and shakes you out of that apathy.

Hardest thing is to get going, but if you perservere into a routine that you can keep up with and enjoy after 3-4 weeks or so you will become used to it, feeling better and really feeling it if you're not doing it.

get out there and enjoy, find something that you like doing...come on, spring is here, daylight saving just about to hit, best time of the year to be out there enjoying the outdoors before it gets too hot...great for bushwalking ;)

good luck.
