disneyfan90
I've lived in the same general area my whole life, and I've been wanting to explore a new city for the past few years but I never really pursued that goal because of fear. Now I can happily say that I've landed a job in the city that I've always dreamed of living in. However, I'm terrified because I won't know anyone there. It's a brand new city to me and I'm afraid of leaving everyone I know behind. Currently, I live with my best friends who I'm very close to, and my family is not too far away either. I'm just very comfortable here. But I guess that's why I want to try something new - I genuinely want to get out of my comfort zone and see what else is out there. Should I go for this opportunity, or is it truly best to just stay where I am knowing that I am happy here? As far as the new job is concerned, it seems like a great one. But then again, there's nothing wrong with the job that I have now.
Mr. Lucky
As far as the new job is concerned, it seems like a great one. But then again, there's nothing wrong with the job that I have now. Unless the new job has contractual aspects, there wouldn't be anything forcing you to stay there if you hated it. Leases can be broken, new jobs found, furniture moved. You could always move back if you'd given it a fair chance and things didn't work out... Mr. Lucky
Ruby Slippers
I agree - give it a chance in the new city. You always have your home town to fall back on if things don't work out. I've moved to a place where I knew nobody before, and it worked out just fine.
preraph
I moved somewhere I knew no one to work and that is where I found my niche and good friends.
D0nna
You will have colleagues and some may become your friends. Also you can sign up for some hobby clubs and know people. Also to grow out of your fear maybe tell yourself you gonna go try it a year. And if you survive and like it then you will stay there. Freinda and family can always come over. If you hold to fear you will go no where or do anything in life.
