Teeth whitening is so expensive!!!

Recommended Posts

So recently did some digging around and got a few of these fancy 'tubes' on Amazon. They kind of worked but then my yellowish color on my teeth came back.

Now I'm thinking about going to an official cosmetic dentist place and have them take a deeper look.

The only freakin downside is they charge up the wazooo.

Are there any 'in the middle' alternatives between amazon and a professional cosmetic surgeon?

I don't mind doing the upkeep myself but just don't want to dish out hundreds of dollars every few months.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thx!

Go to the cosmetic dentist. They’re you’re teeth and they’re kind of important but you’re already okay with messing with them.

Just do your research and make sure you find a good one.

@amaysngrace - Thx for the reply. Yeah, the safety issue did cross my mind. Thanks for much-needed clarity. Guess I'd rather pay now than later.

Go have it done once under the light and where they make you the custom tooth mold. After that, you just buy the refills for it, which are about $25.

Your teeth will only get so white without the miserable light they put you under, which is no fun, by the way. Then maybe go ever few years for the light again.

Unless you have a very sensitive gums, find one who uses the stronger bleach for you to take home because it's less hassle if you can tolerate it, works a lot faster.

Yeah, bleach might do the trick but I do have sensitive gums. I got this lighting thing a few months back and initially, it wasn't bad but soon my gums did start to feel strange (Little pain as well). Thanks for the ideas though @preraph - appreciate it.

Crest or generic white strips aren't bad if you use them regularly at $20 a box, but they'll never get them quite as white as the light/bleach treatment. There's also mouthwashes. They sting. But it's one more tool for maintenance, but you are supposed to hold it in there for a minute and it stings....

I used kits at one point, the dentist moulds them specifically to fit your teeth and you wear them at night for about one week, placing a small bit of the cleaning fluid in the kit,

quite good improvement with them,

a few hundred euro/dollars initially, you can use the same kits ongoing though and the only subsequent cost is the cleaning fluid which is around $10 a tube.

perhaps one week a year might need to use them.

If you drink coffee, tea or red wine, you will need more frequent treatments even from a dentist. This is what put me off the procedure.

I don’t understand how anyone could put bleach in their mouths. I use to have a friend who rinsed her mouth with bleach and we all thought she was a psycho.

It really wasn’t that though if I’m fair, it was mostly because one day she had all this make up on in streaks, leotards and a tutu and was walking around town talking to herself that did it.
