If your doctor's ok with it, you could try e.g taking a fast dissolve 1 mg only if you need it when you fall asleep and then if you wake up again, a 2nd fast dissolve 1 mg and see if that puts you back to sleep.

Because I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping, especially lately, I get more hungry since I am awake a large portion of the night.  I am tempted to eat another meal but should I, or should I only stick to the amount of meals I would eat if I got a regular goodnight's sleep?

Drink milk or eat ice cream, sometimes it will help you sleep. Try melatonin too.

A counselor I had once recommended a tbsp of apple butter before bed. I never tried it but it’s apparently supposed to help suppress hunger pangs during the night. Maybe the fiber in it. I usually have a small amount of granola with some milk, but most advise against carbs due to to the sugar spike and then crash.

Oh okay thanks I can try that, thanks.  Another thing I tried to stay awake is before I went into work the other day, my friend offered to by me an espresso since she was getting one.  I don't recall ever trying one so I thought I would try something new.  I almost never drink coffee since I am trying to get more sleep usually.  But I tried the espresso and wow was I not tired and awake, which is unusual for me.  Should I do espressos more often to help me be awake for work during the day, or is that just going to make me trying to get more sleep worse, even if it's at night later?

In a previous thread on this topic, you mentioned that finishing your job made your sleep improve.  What is the connection between work and sleep for you?

Oh I'm guessing it was less stress to not have to keep looking forward to the next day, in the job.

Another thing is, when I wasn't working, I had a lot more time to exercise which I think improved my sleep more. But now that I am working again, I don't have near as much time to do so, which I think is contributing to the trouble sleeping.

@ironpony you wrote that your exercise consisted of three hours of intermittent running - yes, I can see that you wouldn't have time for this.    Have you incorporated our previous suggestions of how to do your run in 30 mins?

I have insomnia and trouble sleeping to a degree.  I take melatonin but it only works for 4-5 hours a night so far, when I feel like I could use more.

However, I do feel horny while in bed a lot and I wonder, could that be what is causing it to a degree perhaps, or maybe it certainly would exacerbate it?

I wouldn't say there is a mismatch at the moment.  I guess it depends on what counts as a mismatch.  I mean I haven't been having mindblowing sex lately, but there are plenty of people who are not getting that, or not getting any at all, and they are still able to sleep though, aren't they?

Surprisingly, I have a actually had this happen. Both personally and with partners. As of what is increasing your level of horniness... I cannot say. But worth figuring out!

I think you brought this up before (trouble sleeping) - exercising, meditation, breathing exercises, etc. may help with that.

If not, you ought to really consult with a Physician.

Oh well I tried some of those things that were recommended to be me before and they work, but they have only been working for about 4 to 5 hours a night though, and they don't seem to work longer than that.

Shift work, excess caffeine, depression, sleep apnea, poor sleep habits etc can contribute to insomnia.

Why won't you finally see a physician about all this?

Personally... I would stop taking the melatonin.  Everyone I know who took it, would fall asleep quicker... but then be up in a few hours. Your body starts to relay on it, and it's not good. (It becomes the new normal)

1) Assuming you would be going to bed around 10 pm at night... do not drink anything with caffeine after lunch.  Basically... you want +8 hrs without caffeine. 

2) Being horny, in of itself won't keep you awake.  It's the meatal state of dwelling on any subject while lying in bed will keep you awake.  You need to turn off your mind.  (I know, easier said than done) 

3) Rub one out just before bed... that should help.

Oh okay, I never drink caffeine and have been avoided it for years, because I don't like being stimulated when it comes to sleeping.  But as far as rubbing one out before bed goes, I am trying to save my sexual energy for my gf, who I have sex with about twice a week on average, but is there a way to do that and not feel horny at night when trying to sleep, or not really?

How old are you?

If you're seeing your gf twice a week, it should be fine to masturbate on the days you don't see her without it affecting your time with her.

I'm 37. I just was having some lack of energy with her so I thought I should save up.
