did he miss me all that time too?

hey everybody:

 

let me try to long-story-shorten my tale. a couple years ago i had this acquaintance/friend/dude-i-knew and i fell hard. he was smart and funny and into everything i was into, and he had the most beautiful smoldering brown eyes and soft, full lips. we flirted for about 8 months before i wrote him a letter and told him how i had feelings for him, even though i was involved with another man. he never said anything about it and immediately he hooked up with some older woman. after that, he stopped being as physically intimate with me as he had been earlier (no more full-body hugs and lengthy snuggle periods), but he was still verbally flirtatious and kept touching my arm and stuff.

 

we lost touch for a couple of years before i decided i would kickstart our friendship again. i heard from a mutual friend that he didn't answer letters from anybody anymore and that he'd basically become a hermit, but i decided to go for it anyway and wrote him snail-mail. in my letter, i told him that i missed him and that i want him back in my life, and i was really affectionate but not smothering - it was a really good letter if i may pat myself on the back. lo and behold - two months later i got a letter back and it was addressed to the silly nickname i had playfully signed my letter with. his letter back was very brief but in it he thanked me for writing him and said he was really glad to hear i was doing well. i told my friend (who said he never wrote back) and she was really surprised at his response.

 

anyway, now that we're talking again lately, he's been teasing me something furious. we both post on another forum and no matter what i say, he's either ribbing me or calling me names or backing up what i say. it's an inordinate amount of attention and the other day he even listed me among his closest friends. i wouldnt say he and i are anywhere near close (especially now), but it was a nice mention.

 

is this him secretly letting me know that he missed me? why are people so hard to read?!
