Mysterio
So at this stage of your life. What do you really want in life now. At age 48 I would like to see the following happen for me. Keep up my health and weight loss and maintain a weight between 173 to 177. A tight lean body. Financially on track. All bills paid and money in my saving and general account. Not that I am not, but more so. My favourite new Rock and Roll bands in the last 10 yrs Rival Sons and Earthless to keep putting out great albums and they come to my home town for gigs. My Parents/brother to be healthy and strong and happy. My Friends to be doing well. A Woman and I to romantically connect and its organic and not a chore for either of us. We are well suited to each other. She makes the effort and I respond accordingly. My Coworkers to help each other more with the work load. I also want more internal peace with myself over thinking and desiring a romantic relationship with a woman. I can't go into my 50's trying to assess why its not happening for myself. Either I don't care and it comes to me. Or I do care and it comes to me. I don't want to play games and have a woman on edge with me, because she does not know where she stands with me. What about you?
vla1120
I am about to be 59. These are the things I would like to see happen moving forward: I've applied for a new job. I hope I get it (fingers and toes crossed.) The new job will help me get my finances straightened out quicker. Otherwise, I'll just continue to save what I can and be more frugal (and stop supporting everyone and their brother...) Continue to lose weight and stay healthy (so cancer has no home, here.) My daughters to become more independent and move out on their own so that I can live alone for the first time in my life. Spend more time socializing and making new friends (more hiking, more watching football games at the local sports bar, etc.) Finally, make a decision whether I am going to continue this very casual (but exclusive) relationship with this man I've been talking to for about a year, and meeting with for only a few months. I get mixed signals from him. Casual is fine for right now, but eventually, I think I'll probably want something a little more serious and permanent.
Kitty Tantrum
I want to get the heck out of this cracker-box townhouse on the edge of the city and into a rural homestead. I want lots and lots of industrial grade tools and machinery (woodworking, metalworking, machining, jewelrymaking, cobbling...). I want a handgun. I also want to lose about 20-30 more pounds. And I would really like for some sort of small scale catastrophe/disaster to absolutely crash the local economy and housing market and send all these droves and droves of newly transplanted yuppies running for greener pa$ture$. GTFO wankers. I'm sick of your cars and your endlessly revolving array of tax-writeoff hipster crapshops.
crispytoast
I'm 30... Want to start a successful business. Personal goal is to have a mil saved up in the bank in 5 years. Then invest in passive income so I can travel and get paid for it. I want to take my family out to nice restaurants. I want to help my brother reach his financial goals so that his children can grow up without struggle because in all likeliness I won't have children of my own. I don't have romantic goals because I've wasted too much time and money on love. I'm am on average more happy being single and I see people around me constantly making wildly irrational decisions trying to be in love. Been there done that, I'd rather have financial comfort and the freedom to do what I want. The only way I would be in a relationship again is if I meet a unicorn... Like legit a horse with a god damn shiny horn on it's forehead. Edited October 19, 2019 by crispytoast
Art_Critic
I'm 56.. retirement is around the corner so to speak so in the next 7-10 years I'd like to sell my company, at that point I will have been there 48 or so years.. My Son will be graduating from High School somewhere about the time I retire as well so my Wife and I will sell our homes and get a home to retire in. oh..and a blow job every now and then would be golden.. not that it's going to happen though
Happy Lemming
I'm 54 and retired. I have everything I want/need. I'm in good health, financially OK and enjoy the company of my long term girlfriend. I would like to continue to check things off my "bucket list" while I'm young, plenty to do and see. I'm having FUN and living a great life!
chillii
All l want now could seem pretty boring but that would be because most couldn't imagine and will never do or live the life l have so tbh , no more dreams left really, done them all, no waiting till l'm old for me. Now l just dream of my gf and l sorting out some stuff hopefully , as well as finishing this reno, buying the next house cash , and just living. And if you knew us, just living can be pretty damn cool. So that's about it for me, nice and simple, all l just crave now is minimalism and simplicity. I can do just about anything I want ,have the tools to do anything ,been making jewelry lately.. I guess I would love to see government smaller and the expense of life drop in the years I have left. ,it's not going to happen but it would be nice for my kids. Oh I'd also love to never see a democrat win an elected office ever again. they have created the mess of expense we have today ,time for it to end
Mr. Lucky
I'm 56.. retirement is around the corner so to speak so in the next 7-10 years I'd like to sell my company, at that point I will have been there 48 or so years.. My Son will be graduating from High School somewhere about the time I retire as well so my Wife and I will sell our homes and get a home to retire in. A little ahead of you on the arc. In my late 60's, celebrated my 50th year in the hospitality business by selling my interest, only working (very) part-time consulting on some construction and real estate matters. We've bought a second home in the Rockies though I don't think I'll ever leave my life and friends in the desert fully behind. I want my kids to continue to do well and look forward to watching my grandkids grow up, though I worry about this beat-up world we're leaving them. oh..and a blow job every now and then would be golden.. not that it's going to happen though Since my wife hurt her knee, BJ's are all I've gotten. So of course, now I'm missing PIV sex. Guess you always want what you don't have... Mr. Lucky
Author Mysterio
Mr. Lucky. When you consult. Do you have to be careful of using any properties or computer files to help your current clients. In other words can your former employers come after you for using assets at your former job to create profit for your new employers or clients?
thefooloftheyear
Entering mid 50's ...Plenty of regrets, but considering where I came from I am in pretty good shape on all levels...I am well above average in all respects and very thankful for that... Right now its all about getting my daughter to reach all her dreams and desires without all the bullshyt that life brings to deter it...That was my problem and biggest regret....If things work out the way I hope she will be set up to have the kind of life that I wished I had.. And to take care of my mom to the best of my ability...Its been tough and she deserved better, so whatever is left we are going to do what we can to live to the fullest.. That's about it..I am very fortunate.. TFY
Mr. Lucky
In other words can your former employers come after you for using assets at your former job to create profit for your new employers or clients? Mysterio, not an issue in my case as I'm consulting for my previous company. But yes, your point is valid. I've worked for some large companies that have had eye-watering non-compete agreements... chillii
And now l feel guilty because l didn't mention my daughter , reading you other guys. But of course l have hopes and dreams for her too. major_merrick
I want the drama with my sister to be resolved. I'd like to get pregnant again and to watch the kids I already have keep growing. I'd like a 1972 Chevelle that I can work on, and to perhaps start doing car work on the side for cash. Those are the reasonable things. For "pie in the sky" dreams, I'd like a machine that makes perfect cheeseburgers with the push of a button. I'd like a five-axis milling machine that hooks up to my laptop and is small enough to fold away in a corner somewhere. I want a double-barrel over-under .308 pistol with eleven inch barrels, a holster that would fit the whole thing under my jacket, and a load that would give me rifle velocities even out of that short barrel. I'd like a chef to cook meals for me and my family and a pretty maid to clean up the messes I make.
Happy Lemming
I'd like a five-axis milling machine that hooks up to my laptop and is small enough to fold away in a corner somewhere. What about a used Haas or Fadal VMC & a used nikken 5 axis table?? They won't fold away in the corner, but they will hook up to your laptop.
mark clemson
I'd like a five-axis milling machine... What on earth are you making with that? Parts for the cars you work on so you don't have to buy them or ??
crispytoast
What on earth are you making with that? Parts for the cars you work on so you don't have to buy them or ?? Or manufacturing firearms lol
Happy Lemming
Parts for the cars you work on so you don't have to buy them or ?? She could also modify existing parts. If "major_merrick" was updating that 1972 Chevelle into a resto-mod with a modern engine, transmission, etc.; a machining center can come in quite handy for modifying brackets, etc. Or even creating your own brackets, engine mounts, transmission mounts, etc. from scratch. The possibilities are endless.
Gaeta
I am 54, child grown up and gone since a long time. I am healthy, great job, no financial struggling and life was pretty much about enjoying my old dog, enjoying my bf of 4 years and making plans of traveling, buying a little house to renovate together etc. THEN life happened and I was given the guardianship of a 14 years old. My life is back to running late each day, parents meeting, meals preparing, homework, fuss over clothing, mananing the friends and bf of a teen, loads and loads of laundry. So now basically all I want out of life is a cleaning lady lol.
Blind-Sided
Or manufacturing firearms lol Actually... that's 100% legal... assuming you can legally own a firearm. You just can't sell them, or make them fully auto. But on the point of a machining center, I owned a small shop for about 8 years... I loved having my machines at my fingertips. I would rather spend 2 hrs making a program, and setting up a CNC lathe to make a simple spacer, then order it from a hobby store. As far as the question at hand... 1) I honestly just want some stability for me an my kids. I would love for the EX to just back off, and let my kids enjoy themselves, and stop accusing me in attempt to influence them. If that would happen, maybe my 13yo would be able to have a relationship with her mother again. 2) If I can get #1 to happen... Next spring, I will be starting a C6 corvette project. They aren't too expensive, and you can find them with 20K mi or less still. (so super clean) Get one with an LS3 engine, and do a twin turbo conversion. Looking for 700 hp to the tires. 3) Take my girls on a nice vacation next summer. They want to see the ocean, and they deserve some time to decompress from the way their lives have turned. On the wish side of things, I would like to do the addition to my house, that was planed prior to the divorce... and put in a HASS mini-mill, and SL10 lathe. (but $$ is better spent in other places right now) With all the said... I'm very grateful that I have my health, my kids are relatively happy... I was able to keep my house that I've already been in for 16 years... and I have a group of friends who haven't just given me a pat on the back, and have really given some hard love to help me though all of this. (Including the people here on this board. THanks)
The Outlaw
At this point in time, I'm not sure. I'm content at least.

Blind-Sided
holy moly The modern small-block is CRAZY easy to make power with. I'm hoping to be able to do it with 93 octane... but I may have to rig it for flex fuel. E85, and 15~20 Lbs of boost... No prob. Should bee a good time. LOL
gaius
Me on a beach, under a beach umbrella since I'm Irish and I go straight from white to red, listening to the waves and seagulls. With my wife laying right next to me in a bikini. And our beach house merely a few steps away, so when I'm ready to rip that bikini right off her we won't have to walk very far. My dream life......
