What happened was either his wife figured out your intentions with her husband or someone who knows his wife saw you two snuggling up together in cold weather and increasingly getting closer and they made sure she knew you were after her husband. Rob has enough respect for your husband to not debase him like you're doing behind his back. Leave him alone like he asked you. This isn't meant to be. Go fix your marital problems.
