RecentChange
How much exercise do you get each day. Or does that "raise your adrenaline" as well? What do you do in your daily life to try to quiet your mind and ground / focus yourself?
Author ironpony
It does if I do it in the evening, but not if I do it earlier. However, for the past few weeks I've had a lot going on, so I haven't had much time to exercise as I should be. Hopefully I can get back into doing it earlier in the next couple of weeks, and get back on track. That might make a difference.
mark clemson
Just my person opinion - I think taking several drinks in order to fall asleep is a bad idea. It's too bad melatonin doesn't work for you. Think you should talk to a Dr.
preraph
I'm just asking this just in case. You're not on a bunch of supplements or vitamins or steroids, are you? Some of those things will wire you.
major_merrick
Alcohol and pills can work for a while...but long term it is bad. My husband stopped taking alcohol and sleeping pills about a year ago. He was getting only 3-4 hours of sleep a night, and that was with 30-40 drinks per week. I'm not gonna lie, the initial switch from using alcohol to trying to sleep naturally was an issue for him. The past 6 months or so his sleep has evened out a bit, and now all he takes is melatonin. I know it doesn't work for a lot of people, including you apparently. He's sleeping about 6 hours a night, which is an improvement. If you have a partner, sex before bed works pretty well, I think. And avoiding blue light for an hour or two before you intend to sleep. Stress reduction is important as well. IDK how you'll reduce your adrenaline, but I think there's too much stress in your life if adrenaline is a problem for you.
Author ironpony
No I don't take any supplements or steroids, other than the odd supplement I have tried to help me sleep. Well melatonin makes me tired but I don't actually fall asleep from it. From what I understand it's herbal, and every recommends these herbal remedies to make a person tired such as melatonin, tryptophan, etc. However, instead of an herbal remedy that makes a person tired, are they any that can bring down stress and adrenaline? Cause I feel that theoretically, that would work a lot better more likely than something like melatonin. For example, I read that melatonin is a hormone that helps you sleep. But since my insomnia problem is causes by stress, I looked up stress reducing hormones and one that came up is Cortisol. Is it possible, purchase Cortisol, as a natural supplement? Would buying that, help me get sleep possibly then? I looked it up, and there are supplements you can buy that lowers Cortisol, but in my case, theoretically, I may have to increase it. Is that true maybe? Edited November 24, 2019 by ironpony

basil67
I was going through a lot of stress, out of spending a lot money on directing and producing a feature film, which I wanted to use to further my career in and break into the business with. That was causing me a lot, since it's a lot of money. If this is the stuff causing you stress and causing you sleeplessness, then I would suggest that you don't have the kind of money required to put into a high risk venture. One of my friends is a script writer (small screen - not feature film) and she talks about having to secure high profile actors in order to get financial backing for each new piece. Thing is, it's rare for a piece of film to take off without having the draw card of known actors. If investors aren't willing to take the risk on a quality script without known actors, you're going to struggle on your own. By all means continue with your dream, but only use money you can afford to lose.
Author ironpony
Yeah I already had Thanksgiving since I live in Canada, and we have it earlier, but all Turkey does is make me more tired, not actually make me fall asleep. Yeah I am doing the best I can with what I have for making a feature film.
jspice
You have a lot of issues to resolve and coming here isn’t going to help you. You’re self-diagnosing. You need to see a doctor and explain ALL your issues. You need a therapist and a doctor who will listen to you and at least prescribe something mild to sleep. Therapy is a long term solution. Go back to the doctor or see another doctor who might have a different approach. Your life is not together and sleep will escape you until you sort it out. You need to stop drinking. You need to find a job. You need to learn how to take care of your bills and be responsible for your mail. You have to get a handle on these things. You focus on the wrong things. The questions you ask here every day need to be discussed with a medical professional. They are trained to handle people with your diagnosis. You’re not doing yourself any favours here. A lack of sleep affects everything happening in your body. Go to the doctor.
Author ironpony
Okay thanks. I already been to the doctor and he referred me to the therapist. It's just taking a while for the therapy to take effect.

Author ironpony
I've tried that but it doesn't seem to work. It's been a long time since I've tried melatonin so maybe it will work after being off of it for a while. However, it's very difficult to get cause everytime I think of getting it, the few stores that sell it are always closed, and those stores close early. Is there a place to get melatonin that is not a health store with strange hours?
