Watercolors
Before I agreed to move in with my roommate, we met in person and discussed the roommate situation and everything seemed normal by all appearances. Only, it wasn't. One month after moving in, my roommate's true situation showed itself. Some back story; She was fired from her job (her jobs are gigs, based on the type of work she does)Major depression and agoraphobia (she went into her bedroom at the end of July and hasn't left since)Lost custody of her teenager for neglect (her ex would bring over the teenager and she'd keep her bedroom door closed, then order pizzas for him to eat, or yell at me from behind her door "Can you make my teenager some food to eat?" Teenager is on autism spectrum yet my rooomate completely ignores this about her teenager (her friend of 40 years filled me in)Hasn't deposited my rent checks in monthsHad her car taken from her by her ex So, about two months ago, I came home and her bedroom door was open which I thought was odd, because I've grown used to it being closed. Then her sister called me to tell me my roommate was at the local county hospital temporary mental health ward. The plan was to get my roommate connected to an outpatient treatment program and be put on medication. Well, my roommate had access to a phone so she called around until she found someone to come and take her back to her house. Since then, on the weekends her ex and her mother would stop by and try to coax her into their car so they could take her back, and she'd refuse. Until last night, her friend of 40 years brought 2 county mental health crisis workers with her to my roommate's house and they grabbed my roommate and brought her in to the hospital to be evaluated. Again, with the same plan in mind but this time, as an inpatient somewhere, not outpatient. This just happened last night. So, the sister and friend asked me to go in and clean up my roommate's room. It was a trainwreck of food and garbage and soiled bed linens everywhere. After I cleaned up, I found 4 months of money orders I'd given to my roommate for rent that she never deposited. I let the sister and friend know this because it's legally unpaid rent. So, what is the best way to get my rent paid? How do I transfer these money orders to my roommate's sister so she has my 4 months of unpaid rent paid?
d0nnivain
Does the sister have power of attorney? If so she can just deposit them.
Author Watercolors
I'll text the sister and ask if she has power of attorney. I don't know if it's that severe but I'll find out hopefully.
