It surely is better to be a man

Recommended Posts

Came across the news while switching channel that the 65 years old Denis Quid is marrying someone who is 26.

It seems there is no shortage of women who are into much much older man, like could be their father or grandfather.

damn, as long as you are a man and has money and/or fame, you don't need to worry about finding a hot mate at all.

The same can't be said of a woman. ok. I am whining and self pitied again...

Of course, only a minority of men have money and/or fame. Hence all the older men on here who want a younger woman and can't find one.

Don't confuse prostitution of the rich and famous with what is reality for the hoi polloi.

Do you ever read threads on this forum by some of the men who are unable to find love, no matter how hard they try? You might find it enlightening. If you took the time to read their stories I don't think you would say it is easier for men.

The constant disappointment, rejection, and frustration some men face is devastating. To add to that, they know their only option is to keep putting themselves out there to be rejected because women are less likely to pursue them.

I understand you are referring to a man who is both rich and famous in your post, but that affords him a higher status and more options than a regular man could ever dream of, so it is no exactly a fair comparison.

I sympathize with your frustration finding the right match, but you're in the same boat as some single men too. It isn't easy for everyone to meet someone special they connect with.

Fight those negative thoughts if you can. They will hold you back.

Dating as a man or woman has it's hardships, and I don't think that any necessarily has it any easier. I've basically thrown in the towel because I'm sick of it but I'm also just fine with it.

We have hardships that are just as intense as yours, just different hardships. I have to develop a thick skin against the constant rejection that comes in the deep south despite the fact I am a future cardiologist, and you have to dig out the genuine men from the immature ones and the ones who want NSA sex. Equally tough but different challenges.

hey, I didn't say it's easier for ALL men.

I meant if you are a man, then you don't really need to worry about age, you can just focus on making money. woman can't, because they have a short biological clock.

Again, please read some of the posts here from men who can’t find a partner. Sure, the men can earn money, but dollars are little consolation for a lonely heart.

men look for youth and beauty and women look for a provider

There is some truth to this. But to get that youth and beauty, you have to have financial assets. Basically, a man isn't much without money, and a woman isn't much without looks.

I've never run into a situation in my life where I wished I was a man. I LOVE being a girl. I can have my husband and kids, and I can have hot young girlfriends. People are more accepting of my flaws than they would be of a man with the same ones. I can be needy and nobody thinks it is odd. I can be independent and successful and that's applauded. I can act like a nasty little viper at work and receive few (if any) consequences. Or I can quit my job and be that adorable stay-at-home mommy and mostly expect my husband to take care of me. I can yell and scream and show my temper and nobody really sees that as a threat or a reason to call the cops. Back when I drank too much, I was still "cute" even when totally intoxicated. Being considered cute makes my partners spoil me. Even though I've got plenty of my own money, my husband buys me things.

I get to do everything that men get to do but with fewer negative side effects. The only downside is that my appearance is more perishable. My husband looks better and more distinguished as he ages. He looks very much like his father, and his father looks classy even with white hair. Me...not so much. I have to be careful of what I eat, both for the health of my babies and so that I bounce back quickly from pregnancy. I have to make sure my skin looks good, and make sure my hair is the right color. Getting gray strands in my early 30's is a bad sign. But if it comes down to it, there's medical fixes for many appearance issues. I can probably look good or at least cougar-ish well into my 50's.

Most quality men I know who are the age of Dennis Quaid are looking for a woman closer to their age who has kept herself looking good IME. YMMV as to what constitutes a quality man.

I'm a few years older than DQ and would not be attracted to him (am sure the feeling would be mutual:lmao:) though I was attracted to his younger self years ago.

To me, he has not aged well.

As a beautiful young woman, which his fiancee seems to me to be, I can't understand why she doesn't find herself a good looking younger wealthy man instead. To me, it seems she must have some type of issues to go for him. Unless she just would like to be with someone famous is the only reason I can come up with.

I'd never want to be with a man more then ten years older than I am. When you climb between the sheets at night doesn't matter how much money or fame a man has.

Mixed bag OP IMO. Men kill mostly men, and it's usually over money and resources because, well, women like men who have money and resources and, TBH, men like men who have money and resources. Basic human greed.

One thing I would say that's an advantage is to, if desired, be able to go through life anonymously, that's really easy for a man, much more so than for a woman. Men don't really care about other men rather see them more as competitors or threats, and women tend to pay more attention to men who seek to be noticed, to stand out. Hence, it's easier to blend into the background if desired, much more so than for a woman since they're always a reproductive target, even after ovulation is ended. I noticed this decades ago with female friends. Out in public it was like I wasn't even there. At the time I was kinda offended but it grew on me and I came to see the advantages of being a forgettable male. These days, as an old guy, I'm shocked when anyone remembers my name. Sometimes it's even a bit annoying, having grown so accustomed to anonymity. The lady across the way keeps hugging me and saying my name. I think she's watching me. Oh, well.

We each reflect on life from our own unique perspective. IMO it's really hard to generalize, hence mixed bag. If we're fortunate, we live our four score and seven, maybe a bit more, in good health and have a few smiles along the way. Today I was shopping for some baking stuff in a local store where nearly everyone spoke Spanish and all the signs and announcements were in Spanish. I kind of chuckled at the checkout when the family in front of me lost the lid on their turkey deep fryer that they were buying for tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day. Then I smiled. That's America. If you're in America, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving day :)

Women have the edge early on, but the tables turn for most guys...Id say for most around 35 or so...I also heavily disagree that only rich A listers get to play with the younger women...I have seen too many examples in my years to determine its no fluke.;). I hear more younger women complaining of guys their own age not being "man: enough, too immature and jerky, not having the type of characteristics they look for..

Don't get yourselves down too much ladies....You still outlive us...:p

TFY

No, it's not fun, but it's hardly a drama either. Better to embrace being a woman than want something we can't have.

Matched only by men bemoaning women who aren't feminine enough, who aren't available enough, who aren't old fashioned enough, who aren't chaste enough....

Both of these sets of men and women probably complain about the rest of their lives too.

You seem obsessed about older men with young women. Do YOU really want to marry a 20-yo man when you are 60? I sure as hell wouldn't, how boring it would be to be with someone in a totally different life stage from you and have to support them financially. Lots of rich older women have the option of marrying a 20-yo toyboy as well (especially if they go to developing countries) - it's not the lack of available boys that's stopping them.

The pill solves this problem. ;) It does come with risks, but there are medical benefits (e.g. reduction of certain types of cancer) that pretty much balance it out. Plus the cardiac risks that a woman faces while on the pill are still lower than that faced by a man of equal age and fitness level. Estrogen is actually a very beneficial hormone in terms of longevity and cardioprotection. This is why when a person transitions FtM and starts taking testosterone therapy, they are required to sign a consent form that indicates they understand the risks of doing so, including added risk for heart attacks, strokes, etc.

I personally do feel that there are some disadvantages to being a woman - for instance, the fact that we shoulder 100% of the reproductive burden. Homo sapiens is literally built on the pain, suffering and sacrifices of the female sex - our large brains, which allow us to accomplish everything that human civilization has, consume everything from the mother during pregnancy and rip her apart during labour. The term "mammals" already derives from the Latin "mamma", and is defined by the maternal-infant bond where the mother carries and then nurses the infant, which allows mammals to develop greater sentience and brain capacity than other animals. Humans take this much further by having the largest brain to body size ratio, which results in human babies being born less developed than any other mammal (requiring longer care before they achieve self sufficiency), and also in human women undergoing the longest pregnancies and worst labours of all mammals (due to the obstetric dilemma - the hips not being large enough to easily give birth to a head of that size).

But we aren't just cavepeople anymore. The beauty of the modern civilization that we have built, is that everyone can make choices for their own happiness, regardless of their biological sex. I suggest you make your own.

I actually think I can get 20 something years old men easily. Without money - for sex. With money, I bet there are young men that wouldn't mind being taken care of. Sure, they will never really love me but neither do young women love rich older men. I think I am going to go down that route.
