We have a quarterly all hands on deck meeting next week and I really don’t want to go. The last one, they handed out awards to nearly everyone and announced they gave raises to nearly everyone. Guess who was left out. It was painful before going to those meetings. Now it’s unbearable. What would you do?

You still have to go.  It is all hands on deck.   Let this be the last meeting where you are overlooked.  Beginning January 1, buckle down & do what you have to do to be the superstar of the 1st quarter of the new year.

This may involve getting out of the company where your EX-MM works.  That can't be an emotionally healthy situation.

As long as you have a job I would just overlook it. I can’t speak to your background like d0nnivain but there’s always another opportunity to put up a good effort. However given my experience with corporations they may not always place value where it’s deserved. I can’t count the number of times that happened to me. Show up because it looks bad not to be there (if you want to stay there long term). However if you know you did a great job then who cares what other people think .

Thanks but there is just no winning for me there. I’m not one of the favorites there so what I do or don’t do doesn’t matter. I basically can’t get fired so all they can do is make my life a living hell. It’s a government job and we have contractors to do the heavy lifting. Basically not a meritocracy, unfortunately.

Totally agree with your last statement. That is only one of the reasons I need to get out. Easier said than done though.

jah526 since you have a government job and can't be fired, can you conveniently plan a "doctor appointment" for the day of that quarterly meeting so you *have* to miss it? If you have any personal time off to use, take the day off and go treat yourself. That's what I would do in your situation.
