When applying for a job is it good to put down a disability in this case?

Recommended Posts

Some job applications ask if I have any disabilities.  I am autistic, but wonder if it's good to put that down, cause some places say they encourage people with any type of disabilities to apply, but I also feel this could hurt changes of employment as well possibly.  What do you think?

not putting it down would also be a lie.  they'll find out sooner or later. also depends on what type of job it is

Oh it's just that sometimes, that section is voluntary, so I didn't think it was a lie before, so much as choosing not to answer, if it's voluntary.

if its volunteer you don't need to say anything.  only if its mandatory.  don't ask, don't tell

Oh okay thanks.  Actually I have another question since I am looking for a new job.  I don't have a full time job now, but after my last job caused me a lot of insomnia, I am very picky about what job I choose next.  Basically the last job was a warehouse job, which required a lot of overtime, and having to work in the freezing cold.  I've had two other warehouse jobs prior to that, which had the same working conditions

Do you think maybe I should be more picky like my friends and parents say, and just boycott all warehouse jobs from now one, when looking for new jobs, even if some so far, have called me in for an interview?

I think working in freezing cold was causing some of your medical issues.  So, yes, i'd boycott all warehouse jobs from now on

Okay, that makes sense.  Since I am autistic there is a job agency here, that gives people like that jobs, but they do this all the time I go to them looking for new work.  They get me another job in the cold, and they really keep pressuring me to take it.  The last time they talked me into taking a job, I had doubts, cause it meant I was likely going to work in the cold a lot again, for the third time now, and I was offered the job.  I told them I would need a bit of time to think about it.  Then after the agency heard word of this, they called me three time that day saying I have to take it and I need work, and I can't just turn down a job when I need work, etc.

So after three phonecalls, they talked me into taking it, and I regretted it since, cause it was third time I got talked by them into working such a job in the cold.  Now it's the fourth possible time.  I haven't had the interview yet, but since it was a freezing cold job, the first three times, I won't be surprised if it's that way with the fourth.  So what should I do if they keep calling me about it, if I don't take it right away?  Should I even go in for an interview with this job, which seems the same, or will that only get them to keep pressuring me more again?
