I think it would be good to go to therapy together too. For exactly the reasons fishlips said.

What are you hoping to get from therapy?  It is unclear what your goals are.

@fishlips Happened several times. Yes, he knows I saw him cry. Actually I was there and I was trying to comfort him - but I never mentioned it later because I feared it would make him feel bad about himself.

I talked with him about the fact he was not feeling well, we discussed this fact, when we felt like discussing it but we never talked about him crying.

He does not want me to come to joined therapy with him and I respect this fact.

If he doesn't want you to come to his therapy, then there isn't much you can do about that, but I would still tell him that you saw him crying. Just ask how you can help. Maybe if you phrase it that way, he won't be embarrassed or defensive.
