What do I do.

Recommended Posts

Hi so I’ve spoken to my boyfriend and explained that I need space to clear my head as I broke up with my ex of 8 years last Xmas which made this one hard as it was my family and life for the past years. We had 3 kids together and while I 100% don’t want him back is it wrong I want time for me and I also want my boyfriend.

No it's not wrong. Eight years is a long time. You just need to be very clear to your boyfriend why, and it sounds like you have. There is a small chance your boyfriend could take it the wrong way and move on, so that's up to you to work out. What you need to factor in is whether you have given yourself enough time to move on from the previous relationship before starting a new one.

If I was your BF, I'd wonder what you hoped to accomplish alone we couldn't work on together?  If you haven't moved on from the previous relationship, tough to be successful in a new one...

I’d say talk to him. Which it seems you have. If you still have feelings you can work through it but you have to both give a little to move forward, if you’re not willing to then you have to be honest with him and tell him to move on as hard as that might be for you both
