Happiest jobs, less stress, fulfilling life

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, Happy 2020!

I am an English tutor from Greece and I teach English as a foreign language. I do private lessons and I recently left the school I worked at due to the low salary. So, I thought I should try something different. I am currently working part-time as a secretary at a medical practice (he's an orthopedic surgeon and his wife is a general practitioner) but I think it's worse. It's very early though to draw any conclusions. There are some things that I don't like, eg. I have to answer not only the phone but also their cellphones. Also I work overtime, do the cleaning and I don't get paid extra.

On a positive note, I can do my private lessons and have the other job for insurance/retirement in the distant future.

I was wondering, what do you think is a decent and satisfying job with less stress and a good salary? Any opinions or advice?

Stick it out so you have an income while you build your tutoring practice.  Read books about being an entrepreneur / owning your own business / networking etc  Learn what you can from the doctor about owning a business.  Don't ask him just see what he does for staffing, supplies, a bookkeeper etc.

View this job as something you are doing short term to maintain the income until you can be fully self supporting.

Happy new year!

Could you translate business documents relatively easily between English and Greek,

My friend is in the process of setting up a language translation service aimed at businesses- at the moment it is English and Spanish but there could be possibilities to explore further such as Greek, that is spoken in Cyprus is it also,

Its only getting up and running really now so nothing at this point, but you never know in a few months,

@QueenSofiaI've found whatever career there's a trade off, for me currently it's not earning a lot versus being able to please myself and be super-fulfilled, but it's not going to be realistic lng-term as I need to buy another home. So long as they feel like informed choices and steps I feel okay with it, it's when it feels trapped and unrewarding I get unhappy.
