How do you get over the feeling of it really being over?

I don't want to be one of those women who sit alone in her fancy house crying over the past and what could have been.

I want to be married and have children. Despite my past, I still want these things.

I focus a lot on myself and what I want for me.

But yeah...I found out I couldn't have kids...my husband cheated on me. I met a man I fell in love with... Had an affair... Then a divorce.

Went into a spiral because my friend left... Got raped then beaten...I left town and moved to another city.

I rekindled things with my friend. Then messed it up because I was raped and told him.

I'm going to go back.

Just not right now.

I love him. When will I get over him?

OP,

I'm sorry for all of those painful, horrible experiences. I think the most important thing in recovery is self-love. And tbh, especially if you're a giver and kind person by nature - to realize it's okay to focus on your damn self for a while. And anyone you want to love and have them love you should know about your past, the right person will love you MORE because of it. And if they don't then they weren't "the one". Things can be repaired and damage slowly fixed and the damage taken away. But the only way that can happen is if you love YOURSELF first. Exercise some patience, do a lot of self-reflection, and if nothing else - don't block, ignore, or run away from the emotions.

Thank you. I needed to hear that.
