Stopping self sabatoge

Recommended Posts

I go down a few pounds and back up a few pounds. I want it to go down but as soon as it does I feel like eating more. Than right back up it goes. Any idea how to stop this? It's been going on for a year.

losing weight is about making a healthy life style choice.  That involves education.  Learn about portion control.  You will be shocked at how small a portion is.  For example 1 serving of potato chips is 12 chips.  You can eat them on a diet but you only get 12.  One portion of ramen noodles is 1/2 a package . That killed me.  I couldn't believe it; doesn't everybody eat the whole package?  lol

Do drink more water.  It helps keep you full.  My downfall when losing weight is I tend to drink my calories -- fruit juice, soda & alcohol are loaded with empty calories.

Use an app to keep track of what you consume.

Do add more movement to your daily routine -- join a gym or just walk.

I’m using an app to track calories. One thing I like about that is the reward factor. Most of the time I find that I have surplus calories at the end of the day and I can treat myself with a cookie or piece of chocolate. Being able to do that regularly helps me feel like I’m not depriving myself.

It's not really self-sabotage. It's more not being self-disciplined, determined and persevering. In the West, as children we're not actually taught the true value of that. If you can get over the title, the book The Mystic Will can be truly helpful and enlightening to help us through these types of personal dilemmas. It is available for free PDF download, through a Google search.

Best of luck in achieving your personal goals!
