Personally, I recommend CVS they got what you need and every receipt is a week’s worth of toilet paper.”

Omgosh so many people buying guns (for the first time) so they can shoot people who rob them of food because they think there will be a shortage due to hoarding lol...

This is so ridiculous xD

Cookie, this seems to be increasing.  Frankly, I am not sure what people think will eventually take place that compels them to buy guns.

FYI....the beaches are becoming off limits so now it's on to the lake

You're assuming people need reasons to buy guys. I have a beach 20 minutes away from me walkin' and I can't even leave the house due to national quarentine, I've been inside for months, I think imma turn into a house plant any time soon 😭

For mths , jezuz , you'd be climbing walls for sure .

What you can't even head out late at night for a walk or some beach?

Hope it doesn't come to that here.

We have all the technology available to allow us to move no further than our sofa and still have a decent life.
We are in a "war", but instead of travelling hundreds/thousands of miles to get killed in some bloody conflict, we just need to spend some time on the sofa being pampered.
Surely that is not too much to ask?
Some perspective needed.

I'm not going to buy a gun. But I understand the rationale.

Certainly in my jurisdiction, the government has already taken 'very questionable' actions in an attempt to restrict the transmission of the virus. The expectation is that those actions will become more and more 'questionable' i.e. unreasonable. In response to those questionable government actions (which arguably are panic reactions on the part of the PEOPLE in 'civil authority'), people who are not in civil authority have already started to panic as well. The next step is rioting and anarchy. Who's to say how close we already are? I understand people worried about or even expecting rioting would want to have firearms to try to protect themselves.

This is not a 'good place' for our society to be. But the seeds of this were sown by DECADES of 'questionable' actions by government that, over time, have eroded public trust in government. When there was no crisis, people just shook their heads at the stupidity of government and went about their business. That worked fine as long as the economy was good and plenty of people were comfortably fat, dumb, and happy. But now 'we' (the country, the world) have a crisis. For too many people, it's no longer possible to go about our business.

People buying their first gun in a crisis are exercising questionable judgement if anyone cares to know my opinion. A firearm, much like a case of hand sanitizer, is a tool and needs to be used appropriately. Unlike the sanitizer, a firearm, particularly a handgun, requires significant and sustained effort by the user before any degree of proficiency can be expected. That, coupled with the normal human reticence to kill fellow humans means that a firearm bought at the last second is much less effective than it could be. On top of that, responsible gun ownership involves a lot more than being able to employ it. A safe but accessible storage location and safety training for the whole family among other things should be considered carefully.

The one good thing that could come out of it is IF a person eventually takes their shiny new Glock out and become safe and proficient, we stand to benefit from a safer society overall. But I don't see the utility as being real high in the short term.

On the meeting someone and dating things , never know the date sites might become busier than ever , singles might all move to socializing and meeting people moreso in online ways until it's all over . At least it's an outlet and if you happened to meet someone special you could still have a lot of fun calling and videoing .

There probably are a lot of people on dating sites right now... but it's also a great time for catfish, and for the real ones who enjoy the attention but have no intention of ever meeting you

Yea, chatting and not meeting sounds kind of boring and a good way to get catfished. People are probably extremely thirsty at the moment. Probably lots  of quarantine and chill too.

Probably prime time to be there for a hookup. You have a bunch of bored people pretty much forced to stay home. And most people who do that are already not that health conscientious anyway. Mostly younger with poor judgment.

I saw it doesn’t stop the spring breakers congregating much until it is mandated.

That feeling when you get the last 12 pack of toilet paper at Kroger. 🥰 That’s my mood.  We can put half of our workforce in toilet tissue manufacturing and the idiots hoarding all the toilet paper can sustain our economy.

Well , l can say being in a ldr for a long time earlier, we still managed the absolute time of our lives even when we couldn't be in person butttt, we were also a one off .

At any rate yeah sadly the way things look now , God hard to believe isn't even just since this thread started, it'll be the end of the road for most single people for quite awhile won't it, things are getting far too serious now.

Yes now would be a good time to be boo’d up and at home with a SO engaging in all the butttouches if you’re into that sort of thing. 😊

@simplycurious @chillii......

The reality it... if it gets hard to find food and other items needed to live... there will be semi-honest people would will turn evil.  Heck... when things were generally good... there are people in this world who kill and rob. So... the drive right now to buy guns... it's not a bad thing.  It's the honest people who want to use their 2nd amendment rights to make sure they stay safe.

With that said... it's the same STUPID people who have bought up all the TP in the country.  It's a knee jerk reaction... and an almost "Sheep" like mentality. People who think they want a gun, now see there's a rush... and they go out to buy it now. The real issue is... these people really aren't "Gun People" and haven't practiced.  (Could be a dangerous mix)

Me... being the person I am... I've had the "Boy scout" mentality.  I'm always ready.  I have first aid kits in all my vehicles (including boat and motorcycles) I have a pocket knife in my pocket (since I was 10 yo)...  and I had an ample supply of both toilet paper, and bullets.  LOL.   (I never understood the 4 pack LOL)

And finally... me being a realist... good people do bad things when the s*** hits the fan.  So... when I went for groceries last week... knowing things like bread, eggs, milk, and TP were hard to get... I actually strapped on a sidearm. I live a very safe place, and I generally don't "Carry" close to home... but I did that day. (Yes, I have the proper permit to carry, because I'm an honest, law abiding person)

Let's hope that doesn't become a reality with people acting like that.  Panic and fear driven people are unpredictable I suppose.  So many of my friends who have second homes in more remote places (the country, the lake or the beach) are retreating to them simply because the density of people is so much smaller.  I am going to do the same I guess.

Trouble with that plan is that smaller rural hospitals will never be able to cope with the influx of potentially infected people fleeing the city...
Here in the UK there are people now telling tourists and second home people to stay away as they are not welcome...

Thanks for the advice Elaine but I am not talking about going "off the grid" so to speak.  Just getting out of the city so to speak.  I can still

access stores, go swimming, exercise but in just a "less crowded" environment and much more picturesque.

There is no shortage of food though, so people looting and killing to avoid an illness that’s mortality rate is decreasing as daily as testing is increasing will just be natural selection at its finest

Yes, but it is exactly those type of communities that are getting upset. They have limited resources, they don't want to be swamped with "non residents" potentially bringing the disease with them.

Cookie is right (as usual)....there is no shortage of food or toilet paper.  The stores just get raided and it takes a bit to restock.  The word that comes to mind is IRRATIONAL.  Take precautions YES,  don't be an idiot YES, but CHILL A LITTLE.
