Love at First Sight?

Recommended Posts

Figurative? Literal?

It could be a false impression, but women seem to talk a lot about love at first sight and expect the man to feel the same.

Love at first sight? Appearances don’t tell me much besides the physical exterior.

Perhaps lust at first sight?

I know a married couple who say they fell in love on first sight...they're still married 30 years later (and have two kids)

Totally.

Lust is instantaneous based on looks.  Love is far more complex & subtle.  It builds over time.

Lust.

It happened to me. I never used drugs in my life but I am sure it feels like that. He gave me such a high I could not even sleep when he spent the night over. I had never felt like that in my entire life. He ghosted me after 5 months. He turned out to be a weak man with no integrity.

Yes there is such a thing as love at first sight.......when you meet someone and are attracted to them, you can start at varying love levels...... for example, if a person has strong feelings for another out of the gate, you could call it love at first sight.

Only happened once but was strong enough to survive 25 years of up and down, off and on. I tend to dismiss it now, lessons learned from the folly of youth.

It happened to my parents, married over 50 years and until death they did part.
They were of the no sex before marriage type, and courted a while, so not sure it was only lust at first site.

Of course they were old when they got married, 21-22 I think :), so maybe they were just desperate.

I never believed in this notion and at the time I met my husband I was just dating around and never planned to even get married ever (I was 19). But the moment I saw him, I was struck and I knew he was the one. We've been married now for 20 yrs and I don't think I could ever love anyone else the way I love him.

But when I first saw him, my initial thought wasn't "I wanna bang this guy" which it normally was and he was incredibly cute which was strange. Instead it was more like "I need to know this guy. I feel like he''s meant to be in my life." But shortly after that my thoughts turned dirty. Lol

Cheesy as it sounds,  I instantly believed in soul mate the second our eyes locked. And I wasnt even supposed to go to the party I met him at. It was a last minute decision that changed my whole life.

I experienced love at first sight and it was the most powerful experience of my life. It didn't last forever but that doesn't make it any less real.

Somehow people have gotten the idea that it can only be love if it results in a permanent marriage. I think there are many kinds of love. Some last, some don't, but they are all real love nonetheless.

Is love at first sight real? Absolutely!!! And it is perhaps the most amazing thing a person can experience.

I was 27 and already had a great sex life, lots of dating, lots of sex.  I was wondering what was wrong with me, and why couldn't I fall in love.  Then one night I returned and item to a sporting goods store and there she was.  No.  it was not lust at first sight, as I had a great sex life with lots of partners.  This was the gal I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

We dated, and eventually got engaged.  She was Hispanic and her older sister was dead set against her younger sister marrying a Gringo.  And continually came between us.  I refused to marry her until this some how got fixed, and after waiting for 3 years, for me to set the date, she finally broke it off.

Love at first kiss!

After my marriage fell apart 6 months after the ceremony I swore that I was never going to fall in love again.  I dated and had a fantastic sex life.  Including one who was an exercise nut, fantastic body, buns of steel, she was 28 and I was in my mid 40's, super rich, who wanted to have my kids, used to ask me on trips to Bermuda, Alaska, Hawaii, and last a 2 week scuba diving trip to Tahiti.  I was determined to never love again, and eventually moved a thousand miles away back to my home town.  But that did not stop this gal and she would fly over about every three3 to six months.

Then I met this long legged blonde, and was determined that we would some day go out.  I knew any body that good looking was sure to have a boy friend and I was right,   Just made up my mind to wait for the day he made a mistake.  That day came about a year and half later.  Second date, first kiss, and my mighty walls melted away.  We have now been together for almost 25 years.
