Social Distancing and Coronavirus

Recommended Posts

Well coronavirus is now a pandemic.

Tom Hanks and his wife have it but they are in Australia.

What do you think that social distancing will entail here in the U.S.?

Are you ready?

Well... the NCAA said there will be no fans in the stands for March Madness (tournament), so I guess the social distancing will begin with that.

I'm ready to "hunker down"... I've got plenty of work to do on my home anyway.  I just picked up a five gallon bucket of paint, so I know what I'll be doing during the pandemic.  I've got plenty of food and toilet paper, so I'm ready.

Yes, I'm trying to tell my girlfriend about limiting her exposure and staying in vs. going out and gallivanting everyday.  She told me she would ask her doctor about curtailing some her activities.

HL it looks to me as if the big dance will be cancelled all together...

The NBA has suspended the rest of the season.

Colleges are "closing" (going online) left and right.

I didn't know that... just googled it.

I was listening to Sport Talk Radio earlier today and they were discussing different options.  I guess that decision came down, recently.

Yes, I read on Facebook that it happened at tip-off at a Jazz game?  A player tested positive and the second they found out they called off the game and then I guess suspended the whole season.

I just had 18 bottles of wine delivered by FedEx today!  I've never done that in my life and it was NOT because of the virus scare.  Just a great deal I found :).

I'm sad for those who are suffering because of this. But I love being at home in my lovely house, so I'm stoked about that. Hopefully my boyfriend and I will both be working from home soon with plenty of time for "cuddle" breaks 😏

Am good here. Not changing anything. I usually go to the store every other day for fresh veggies and things and plan to continue.

Oh wait! One thing has changed, though, come to think of it! I've decided to take a gallon jug of tap water with me and some soap. Since the weather's nice here I'll soap down hands next to my car, pour water over them and go! Am sure I'll amuse onlookers although that isn't my goal. It's just that the soap and water combo is so much better than hand sanitizer and I think I can be fairly discreet in doing this.

I'm working at home. I stocked up on groceries and have 5 boxes of wine so i don't have to go out as much. I'm building a home theater too. I have plenty to do. Like a big ol' bear, I'm just going to hibernate in my cave for awhile and see what happens with this bug.

But I wanna know what the big run on toilet paper is all about? It's probably as elusive as the secret to the universe!

Maybe, we DON'T want to know what the "run" on toilet paper is all about.  I cannot believe how far all of this has gone.

I don't get it either.  I mean, if I run out I run out.....I still have a working shower!

The run on toilet paper is partly just so people don't have to keep going to the store during this.  And also, the virus can get into the intestinal system through mucus and cause diarrhea, though not everyone gets it that way.  I read a long detailed thing on it.  People use toilet paper for kleenex and everything else . I will be stocking up on Viva towels and keep plenty of toilet paper and any disinfectants and soap I can get.  Mostly, I take the disinfectants with me when I'm away from the house and also some to clean countertops at home, because soap and water is better for your hands and more effective, they're saying, which is pretty funny that all these years of selling gels and wipes, now we find out plain soap is better.  Bah.  I never used them much but using too much of that stuff can actually harm your immune system, using it regularly.

I'm having my home cleaned today, which I"m nervous about having people in, but better now than when the thing is widespread.  I guess I ought to go to the car wash too, inside and out.

Yes, people are stocking up on essentials so they don't have to go to the store and be exposed to other people's germs.

We stopped at the store on the way to our hotel last night, looking for disinfectant spray to use in the hotel. Completely sold out.

just went to pick up some lunch from McDonalds.  the girl in the drive-thru window #1 who takes the money was wearing a mask and surgical gloves.  the girl at window #2 giving the food did not have a mask or gloves on.  go figure

I'm having lunch next door to the hotel. Every restaurant around here is still packed with people.

I've heard the subject be tossed around so much today I'm about to start pulling my hair out. Some people are doing exactly WHAT they shouldn't be. Panicking. Now, if they contract the virus in total panic mode, guess what? They've weakened their immune systems because they were stressed out about it. And there have been far worse things in history than this and the idiotic new media acts as if it's the end of the world. Best to be prepared but totally blown out of proportion.

Well, in a typical week I commute about 100ft on foot a few times daily and wave at a couple neighbors. I just don't see how I can get much more socially distant without moving above the AC in Alaska or something.

We get email updates every day from my work place about the virus.

All staff are now required to self isolate upon return from overseas travel.

Don't know how it's all going in the US but gees it's pretty amazing what's happening around the world.

Speaking of that Tom Hanks , wtf was with his son doing that announcement shirtless, bragging off his tats.  l mean just wtf, what he couldn't put a shirt on first , bloody wanker talk about a show.
