What are you doing these days?

I’ve been a bit of an emotional mess, firstly about my ex whom I post about way too much on here. I’ve started online dating but it’s not really working for me. There’s a lot of pressure on people you haven’t met turning into something. I’ve decided to take it less seriously as a result and just enjoy the chats.

I live with another woman the same age as me (we are both early thirties) who is also single. We’re in a city of eight million people which is now eerily quiet. She has a dog, which is really good company. I decided to be there rather than my parents as I can hopefully get more work done. However it’s nowhere near as much as I would do in the office.

@skywriter, so sorry to hear of your loss.

Yesterday, I gave myself a haircut. This isn't coronavirus related as I have been cutting my own hair for many years.  I also gave the bathroom a real good deep cleaning (afterwards).

I did a little yard work and realized I need to do some tree trimming soon. I'll trim just enough, so the off cuts will fit in the trash can. I think the local landfill is closed to "residential" drop off/green waste recycling.

Some screws I had on order came in (yesterday), so today I'll do some work in the master closet.  I'm getting towards the end of the master suite project.  I still need to give the carpeting a real good cleaning, but I'll do that on a day when the temperature is up and I can open all the windows and use fans to dry the carpeting after cleaning.

I think my next major project will be a new kitchen counter.  I purchased the granite tile when it was on sale and have that in the garage, but I don't have the rest of the supplies required to start the job, so all I can do is plan out the pattern and do some test cuts.  Once the "order" is lifted... Home improvement stores here I come!!

I've mostly been indulging in my video games, while also occasionally trying to work through the massive backlog of stuff I've always wanted to watch on Netflix, HBO, etc.

I'm getting kinda frustrated with my hair, as I'm already way past due for a haircut, but I suspect it'll be many months before that's feasible (and honestly, for my own health and safety, I don't know that I'll even feel safe going out to get it cut when we do start reopening things). I don't really want to cut my own hair; I tried that once a long time ago, in hopes of saving money on haircuts, but I screwed it up pretty bad.

I'm still nervously waiting to see if I develop symptoms after my visit to the hospital last week. Today is day 8 since I got home, and so far, no symptoms, but I almost hate to say that "out loud", like I'm going to jinx myself, since I still technically have 6 days or so before I'm "in the clear". I think I have some seasonal allergies and maybe some minor after effects from my surgery last week, and I keep panicking and wondering if those are budding coronavirus symptoms or not. But, I've not had any fever, no cough, no problems breathing. I've just had sort of a little throat tickle since right after my surgery finished (which makes me cough once or twice here and there, but I think I heard the coronavirus cough is something you feel more in your chest, rather than a "tickle in your throat"?), along with some sinus headaches, which I don't necessarily think are symptoms. Either way, I can't wait until my "14 days" pass so I can let out of a sigh of relief.

I try and indulge in ANYTHING outside  running, swimming, golfing, even did some yoga outside (yoga stinks by the way), and sometimes just sitting outside.  Anything to avoid being inside for me.  It is a picture perfect Chamber of Commerce day today and those are PRICELESS.  I hope everyone is staying safe.

Yesterday after work, I went to Costco and was able to get a bunch of things I needed/wanted. That was supposed to be my one stop after not having been out of the house all week except to take walks. I stopped at another store on my way home and stood in line again outside of the store. It was worth the wait - I was able to buy eggs and other things that I need. My son is cravings smoothies these days and I was able to get the yogurt, bananas and raspberries that I need to make him those, and his favorite cereal. That was my exciting Friday night date with myself. Wearing a mask is a new and different experience and it made my nose run to wear it  while shopping. I've also been wearing one when I walk outside because runners keep coming too close to me when I'm out exercising...they are definitely not following the 6' minimum physical distancing rules which is pissing me off, given all of the wide open space there is even in my city.

My BF came over this morning and we took a very long walk together. Spring is in full force here and everything is blooming, even though it was raining. Seeing him always makes everything better. He is wonderful company and I always feel lighter/more cheerful after time with him. We are used to spending at least half of the weekend together and we are not able to do that right now, but I'm grateful for any time that we have together.

I plan to do yard and house work, read, and watch a sci-fi series that I've been into for the remainder of the weekend. It is so nice to have some time off and unscheduled time.

I meant to fix my post above to say that Costco did not have any eggs at all, hence my trip to another store that I hadn't planned on!

I’ve been baking a lot more since I usually never have time to otherwise. Right now, I’m trying to decide if I want to buy a KitchenAid mixer stand up make my life easier, lol. They expensive, but I hear they are worth it. Besides baking, I’m exercising and reading more and trying to learn French!

Watching a combination of game film and instructional golf videos...LOL.  Also, wondering what will become of the Boys of Fall.

I just got finished cleaning the carpets in all of the bedrooms and office.  I've got one of those Bissell Home Carpet Cleaning machines, doesn't do as good a job as a rug doctor, but good enough.  I finished construction/painting of the master suite and was doing final post construction clean up and decided to clean the carpet.

I figured since I had the machine out, I'd give the rest of the bedrooms and office a cleaning, as well.  It's going to be 96 degrees today, so I have all the doors and windows open and box fans blowing away to dry the carpeting.

I vacuum regularly, but the carpet cleaner still manages to pull quite a bit of dirt out of the carpets.  The waste water is always yucky!!

I'm an ER nurse but I'm an agency nurse and my last contract ended 4/4/20. Since then I've just been sitting around the apartment, learning to day trade, keeping up with the news, watching shows, etc. I rarely leave my apartment unless I'm getting milk, the mail, takeout, or picking up groceries from the lobby.

I finally got the Fall leaves raked up and bagged out of the backyard.

I trimmed the shrubs by the street out front also and they don’t look so wild now.

Yesterday I undecorated Easter and put all that stuff away.  My summer decor is very minimal but I’m good there too now.

Oh, and I’m slowly falling in love 💗

My first nail fell off.  I’m not ripping them off cause my nails are already damaged to crap from the acrylic but it’s nice to see my natural nail even if it is battered.

Nine more to go.

Chores. This morning I folded two batches of laundry, cleaned the whole upstairs bathroom and the kitchen (can we agree the kitchen is the worst?!), mopped the upstairs floors, swept and vacuumed and mopped downstairs, and cleaned out some drawers. Currently taking a break with two very sleepy kitties on my legs while my husband does some painting. I guess one advantage of this quarantine is that he has no excuse not to get through his whole long list o'house projects.

Also trying to keep the kittens off the keyboard, which is a losing battle, so I'd better end this post before I end up with a 20-line string of keyboard mashing that got sent to a few colleagues yesterday. Oops.

I'm still GOING to work most days,  my wife is working from home.

For the first few weeks it was amazing because my kids were stuck at home and we were doing tons of stuff together.  Now, well parents of young adults get it, not so fun.

Lots of meals on the grill. My son and I refinished the swimming pool,  it looks terrible but saved money.  Actually started working on an old car I drug home over a year ago.

Luckily we know no one personally who has been affected by covid.

I had a Bissel for pets but it leaked stuff and it actually stained my carpet.  So got rid of that and most of the carpet.  But still have in the bedroom and my small bedroom that I use for clothes and junk.

So I have this carpet cleaner come out when I need to, and he sees ghosts -- or he's schizophrenic, not sure which.  But anyway, it's kind of fun.  He's a nice guy.  Very functional if he is schizophrenic.  But he says he sees them.  He won't go into detail.

So man, there are some good sales out there because people really want some business.  I just ordered new pillows from Macy's, free shipping on $25, and that's all the two pillows together costed me.  I remember it was at least twice that last time I bought them (same brand) there a few years ago.  Of course, I may get them and not like them, there is that.  I sure hope I do.  I use four pillows because of all the aches and pains and limbs trying to go to sleep and be numb at night.  So those Macy's Martha Stewart pillows were $12.49 each.  I probably should have bought four and just got rid of all the old smelly stained ones.

I've got no ghost stories...  I did date one woman who said she saw a "black aura" all around this one home I was re-building.  Maybe she was right, because when I finished and sold it, I was definitely in the black!!

That's weird!  I have only seen anything like aura once, or maybe more when a kid, coming out of my fingertips as I petted a dog.  I imagine the ambient light was just right, but it seemed like I had light rays pouring out of my fingertips.  I was real relaxed at the time.
