Thank you for your posts too! I learned a lot from you. I didn't always want to hear it but the advice I got was indeed true. Best of luck to you!

My CA place still has the original Moen faucets and bath/shower valves from the 60's and the cartridges are still easily available at box stores or on Amazon. 10 bucks, ten minutes, done.

Yes, I agree the older Moen controls seem to have better quality control than the newer ones.

Oddly, I was watching youtube last night and this guy {[Andrew Camarata] was re-doing his shower. (I usually watch him for other things, but I was bored last night)  He had a brand new Moen shower control installed and it was defective.  Granted they sent him a replacement part for free, but it is disappointing that new out of the box, it was defective. Also trying to keep the kittens off the keyboard, which is a losing battle, so I'd better end this post before I end up with a 20-line string of keyboard mashing that got sent to a few colleagues yesterday. Oops.

I can't find your first post about the kittens, so using this one. I remember you said you got two, I'm so glad you did 🙂 I lost my favorite cat a little over a year ago and went shelter hopping to  find a new kittie to love. The woman at the shelter encouraged me to get two, because "they like it" and they also had a deal at the shelter. $5 kittens, buy one get one free. I thought the kitten BOGO was a joke and that she just wanted to offload another cat lol But she put the idea in my mind and I got them both. Such a great decision.  Kittens exploring the world together is the cutest thing ever. You have increased your happiness factor 10 fold by getting two.

I only wish the one that was lost could be here to play with them.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your lost favorite - but I'm so glad that you have two new joys in your life now! Where I live they won't let you adopt a single kitten; you have to take two. I was a little worried about it being too much to handle but they do an excellet job keeping each other entertained. It's only a problem in the morning, when they decide to tag-team me for food. You are right that is really is the cutest thing ever. They are sweet and fantastic and every time they do little face-kisses my heart breaks. Hearing them purr or having them sleep in my lap is like an instant stress remover. Although I'm not sure if we'll ever have clean floors again...or at least not until they're big enough for a litter robot...

I have my second set of cats now, my first set lived to 18 and 20 years. Now that I'm divorced I'm nearing the danger zone for being seen as the crazy cat lady by having more than one, but I think it's absolutely the best thing for the cats.  My current set are litter mates and like to cuddle and sleep together.  They are 7 1/2 years old now but still zoom around, pounce on things, jump straight up in the air, and play and do silly things and make me laugh.

Last time I was at the grocery store it seemed as if the supply chain has adjusted except for Large Lima Beans. The shelf was empty. It makes some sense as it's a dry good and can be kept for a long time but since when is butter bean soup a favorite now-a-days? That was a staple from my grandfathers day.

The power of words. If I had been told I had to take two, I would have felt pressured and put upon even though I wanted them both, but telling me I got one free changed my entire perspective lmao.

Daydreaming about taking all the people who are banging pots together in support of medical/essential workers and smashing them over the head with their own cookware a few dozen times.

Ha, ha, speaking of banging pots, check out the ventral fin inscription currently running on the T-birds as they fire up in support of health care workers around the country....

Besides watching this super rare "Operation America Strong" joint effort, I've been watching survivor films of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. Good dose of reality. And laughing watching the cat chase the laser bug around.

Yes, new stuff, mostly the made in China stuff, which is most of it, has its issues. I had a bad batch of fixture shutoff valves, porosities, from Home Depot that I installed in one of my rentals thinking all new valves is a good thing. Fortunately an eagle eyed tenant alerted me to the leaks so I sourced some US made stuff from a local hardware store to replace it. The valves I had replaced were 70 years old and still worked but I was thinking newer was better. Ooops.

I've done that shower reno a couple times, put in a few roll-in (ADA compliant) showers too, quite the fun. Pro tip, don't skimp on those expensive dielectric couples when marrying copper to galvanized. Also, for the shower valves in the wall, get the kind that have shut offs built into the valve, heck of a lot easier than having to shut the whole house off to work on a shower valve cartridge. Oh, and when bolting a claw foot tub to the floor, don't drill through the drain pipe under the tile 😂👍 (true story)

Looking at the cover shot for Happy Lemming's youtube shower tutorial.   Did anyone else wonder why the guy had a pink poodle right behind where he will stripping the shower?    Oh, wait...it's insulation.

I power washed yesterday and need to finish it up today.  A tree fell on my house a couple weeks ago and had my roof done but I need new gutters too and before I can get the guy here I need to power wash according to my friend Lou so that’s what I’ve been up to.

It sucks.  I got totally wet and not in a good way.

I don't know.  Haven't had to buy it.  Maybe not.  I hear people are doing more baking.  It can't be that hard to get, surely.  I think I have enough for the summer birds.

Where I am, it was impossible to get flour and yeast a few weeks ago.  However, there's been no shortage of bread and other bakery products in the shop...so now the shelves are filling up with baking ingredients again.  No doubt a lot of people tired very quickly of their own home made efforts.

I decided to try to make some ice cream since I had cream and eggs that needed used up.  I don't have an ice cream maker nor a clue how to make ice cream - though obviously I googled for some ideas.  It was looking pretty dire this morning, so I let it melt, whipped it up some more...and we'll see what happens.

I have an order coming from Target of just hair dye and stuff.  So I'm watching the movement of my UPS truck, which is fun.  An hour ago, he was pretty close and then about 20 minutes ago, he was 2 blocks away, and then he bypassed my street and went to the shopping center instead.  Who plans their routes, I wonder?:classic_rolleyes:

That does sound neat!!

Can you track your USPS postal route carrier??  That would make for some interesting "twists and turns".

No. All I can do with USPS is go out to the curb and see if the truck is up the street. The UPS truck certainly took a circuitous route to get to me.

I've kind of trained my ear to listen for the postal truck.  It struggles and surges to get up the hill, almost like an oscillating wave, as he stops at each mailbox while climbing the hill.

Maybe the postal service has me trained like Pavlov's dog... 🐕

OMG!!! that does look like a "pink poodle", but yes it is insulation.  The guy does have two dogs, though... I think they are yellow labs.

On the video I posted (Shower renovation), look near the guy's left hand.  There is a hole where he broke away the tile and backer board, the insulation looks like a pink poodle dog.  Although, its just an optical illusion and just dirty insulation.

It's not insulation - it's a very good girl
