What are you doing these days?

We’re pretty much covid19 free here in New Zealand now, no new cases in 13 days. All but one case out of 1504 are now recovered.

I’m still in the lab testing for it every day, good to see all the negative results, we haven’t even seen any flu cases, usually by this time of the year we’re in full on flu season, so obviously our strict lockdown rules have worked and bought a bonus with the flu results.

I have booked a long weekend away with some girlfriends next month in Queenstown, it’ll be freezing there, but looking forward to hopefully seeing some snow and our air bnb has a hot tub, will be a great escape from the lab.

I also booked 2 weeks off work in October/November, so we can take our camper to Taranaki for the whitebait season. Will harass the boss for approval for this next week. Lol

Still working and I'm trying to stay out of trouble - which was the last thing on my mind yesterday afternoon. Didn't really care about a thing.

Mrs. Rubble, that's great news.

Dallas keep peaking and half the people here think wearing a mask is sissified, apparently.  Unless the heat kills it (no humidity right now), it's going to peak again because of the parties and then now protests.

I am really ready for people to get back to work to stop some of this congregating.  Or get back to school or whatever.

I'm not happy the governor loosened up the restaurants even more because I felt I could go when it was 25% and some places when it was 50%, but most places, no at 75%.  Most places aren't large enough for that.  I do have the advantage of being able to go mid-afternoon when hopefully most will be dead, but lunch is cheaper and mostly what I did before the virus because lunch is quite a bit cheaper here.

I'm still not working much, but at least I'm starting to be needed again.  Going to work now the rest of the day.  It's hard not to get distracted.  I will be SO glad when everyone is back to work.

Today I cleaned up the house a bit, baked some cookies, did some maintenance on one of the printers. Now I'm printing a few brackets to hold stuff up in my shop. While that's extruding, I'll maybe relax a bit and then figure out what's next. Maybe put the brackets into service. Maybe wash the car.

Still bibgevwatching Gunsmoke. Right now I'm watching one from season 1, and it's got to be the earliest catfish story. Chester had a pen pal but he was writing through cell phone service where you're looking to get married, and of course this is all snail mail from the 1800s.

So this pinpal is coming to meet him and hopes of getting married, but instead of Chester sending a photo of himself, he said her Marshall Dillon's photo. This is going to be a right mess. But how ahead of their time was Gunsmoke!

Oh my God, this Gunsmoke catfish episode is so funny and exactly like one of our friends here right now. Chester is tilling Marshal Dillon, Doc and Miss Kitty that all that matters is what they wrote to each other, not each other's looks, and they're all rolling their eyes just like we do.

I just finished roughing in the wiring for the new canless LED lights I'm installing in my kitchen.  I want to get the new lighting installed before I start laying the granite tile on the countertops.

Making everything. I've made my own jams, jellies, pickles and dressings for more than a decade, but now I've expanded to yogurt (A+ results thanks to a great culture from Cultures For Health), cheeses, ketchup, and mustard. Honestly I'm happy to not buy ketchup anymore. Regular Heinz tastes like corn syrup and the sugar-free stuff is wildly expensive.

I haven't done a cross-stitch project since we brought home the kittens---they will terrorize anything even remotely string-shaped and I'm worried they might choke---but I'd kind of like to. Maybe I can move my crafting stuff to the bedroom where they're generally not allowed.

After so much cooking and cleaning today we're in that weird stretch of doom where the biggest challenge is staying awake. It's too late for any kind of energy boost, but if I read a book or rest too much I'll fall asleep. Maybe I'll find something else to clean...

I just got done replacing a few roofing shingles on the ridge cap of my guest house.  We had a wind storm roll through yesterday and it took a few shingles off of the ridge cap.  Luckily, I had some shingles in stock from a wind storm 2 years ago.

Eventually, I'll replace that roof, but for now a little patching was all that was required.

Anxiously awaiting the new house to be finished then it's time to go to work.  Going to miss the peaceful days and the water plus the LS.  Why are good times never meant to last?

Well one of the reasons I've been mostly absent is because I did have a caregiver job for about six weeks.  Between that and the stimulus deposit, I've been bettering my living situation.  I'm holding on to about $1K because I need to completely replace one room's flooring and I want to wait to see if they end up doing more stim money with which I could do more. If they don't, that's find, but more is always better.

I also bought paint and am getting ready to paint two more rooms. My senior center is opening back up on the 15th, but we're still supposed to social distance - so probably no bus rides to fun places for a while longer. It'll be good to see everyone again.

My recent ex-h has been coming over to "hang out" and help me with a few things every few days; but I'm making sure I always repay him for materials and paying for my share of meals.I'm fond of him but I know what living with him would be like as he never completed the anger course and he will probably never change. And I won't sleep with him so I'm not allowing the feeling of obligation on either side. We're just good friends at a moment when there aren't any others available.

Recent events make me extremely glad I live in a small town; while all my relatives live in cities. I feel very secure and safe here for the most part. I still have lots to do in this house, but overall it is a very relaxed life and I have no regrets about buying this bargain basement house and fixing it up so as to be very comfortable even if small. I'm thinking about going for CNA, but that floor has to be replaced first - I couldn't be here for that if working.

I hope everyone is well and all tests are negative!

I started squaring up the kitchen counter top for the granite tile that I want to install.  The previous countertop isn't square and I needed to make up a spacer out of some scrap lumber.

At some point, I'm going to have to go down to the Home Depot for some durock cement board.  This will be my first time (at my favorite store) since the initial lock down.  Everything else I've needed I've been able to ship in...

Well said Ellener.....you seem to have a way with words.

But can't we WISH that they would LAST?

It is amazing how INTO IT your body gets when it's really humid and down right hot.....

You too! I was just thinking what should I do next to make a living, and it's probably write!

'You are the music while the music lasts...' the same things are always there whatever we prioritise:

'For most of us, there is only the unattended
Moment, the moment in and out of time,
The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight,
The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning
Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply
That it is not heard at all, but you are the music
While the music lasts.'

( T S Eliot )

You are so welcome Ellener.  I bet you would do great using your writing talent.  Being able to use words to convey feelings and thoughts is an immense talent.

Will anyone be going to the movie theaters when new movies be coming out next month? I’m tempted...but sitting in a confined place for 1 hour and half seems unrealistic. People are going to be eating, drinking, opening their mouths...

I was out of state on a lonely highway in the country, and two young deer ran right out in front of my car. I have to say I have pretty good reflexes to have avoided hitting them. There was a van behind me and they had to run off on the shoulder to keep from running into the back of me.

Then I noticed that there was a low-flying helicopter that was flying between two groves of trees below the tree line very close to the ground. So that's what was spooking the wildlife. Very strange. I spoke to the sheriff and they didn't know what that helicopter was up to.

Am I detecting a hint of false modesty?:)

Glad you are OK. That will shake you up.

Too bad you didn't get a pic of the helicopter. They could be doing anything from surveying to research.

Went to the store today. Most people were masked up.

I did notice that some items were in short supply. I was looking for a new microwave at Target but they didn't have many choices. It also seemed as if the shelves were only half stocked. Maybe supply problems with appliances?

They dumped my brand of dried Pineapple that was costing me $1.98 a bag for a fancy organic brand at $4.98 a bag. No thanks. I'll buy a drier and dry my own pineapple.

Velvet is putting out their own brand of Ice cream sandwich. Three different flavors. Other then that important bit of news nothing new at the grocery or pet store.

I bought a lottery ticket - wish me luck.
