Ruby Slippers
Goals for the week(s) ahead: Get back to my daily walks/jogs/workouts, which I let slide last week. Get started on my taxes. Set up my own retirement account in addition to the one through work, so I can start investing in earnest and working my early retirement plan 🤓

Ruby Slippers
Yes, I'm doing exactly that. Dave Ramsey is a huge advocate of the Roth IRA. I'm leaning toward that, but not sure yet, probably need to crunch some numbers.

We kept having disagreements and I kept feeling like he's just too selfish and inconsiderate for me to live with long term. Thanks, I've definitely been taking it easy. It's been so quiet with the house back to myself, but I'm gradually adjusting. Being with someone 24/7 will break up a lot of people. Being stuck at home with the kids 24/7 will also break up a lot of people. 24/7 just isn't practical. I mean if the covid-19 going on and you guys were married but both working, maybe the problems wouldn't have gotten as magnified. I'm kind of a believer that we're all kind of selfish, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as you accept that that means you have to compromise and take turns doing it. Anyway, after the plague is over, then you can get back to dating. By then maybe you'll feel like it. Is it still pretty dangerous in your area? It is very much so in mine.
Ruby Slippers
Sure, we all have to look out for ourselves. But his attitude about sharing house and yard work was simply unfair and unreasonable. I learned an important lesson that I hope to God I can heed in the future: Don't dive into a romance with a man you barely know, no matter how tempting he and the romance may be. The plague is not looking good in my area lately. I predicted this with the premature openings. I love working from home, and I'm going to make it a point to get out of the house and have fun wherever I can. Living alone during this ordeal isn't easy. But I'm patient and I have faith.
preraph
There's a lot of people who aren't fair about chores. Honestly I could just never stand for that, but I hate housework too and I just kind of keep it neat and then hire someone to do the rest which I don't have to do very often since it's just me here. I can't keep up with my house but even if I could I wouldn't want to. When I was living in a one-bedroom apartment and have company more often I was a lot better about keeping it clean but then it was so much smaller that it wasn't that hard to do. It's hard to keep your emotions in check because sometimes it takes a long time to find out what someone is really like and whether you're compatible. It's kind of a catch-22.
preraph
Glad you had an occasion to dress up. I was going to dye my hair tonight and then I just thought, Why? The only person I'm going to see is the dentist. But I don't want to let it go too long or it'll just be a worst dye job probably. I desperately need to get my long hair cut and dyed by a professional to cover up the gray better. I can dye it but the new Clairol semi-permanent doesn't cover as well as the old one as they'll be the first to tell you.

TFY Couldn't agree more! I've done it twice since we went to "yellow" but Friday starts "green" so hopefully I won't have to! And I only went because someone else made the reservations and invited me. It was hot both times. Not terrible because the sun wasn't on me, but I agree with you.....I do not like eating in this humidity and and restaurants will suffer if they try to focus too much on that and not what has been working in terms of takeout/curbside.
Ruby Slippers
I ate inside restaurants 5 or 6 times over the past month or two, with all the proper protocols in place, and it was fine. Being single again, I don't see it happening for a while. I'll still do takeout occasionally.

I can barely stand to wear my mask intermittently, and wearing it and a plastic face shield for an entire shift would be torture. In addition to that, I can just imagine how difficult it is to project friendliness through the mask, if they are not absolutely sparkling with personality they tend to appear rather surly behind the mask. So half filled stations and probably crappy tips to boot, makes for a sh*tty job to come back to.
amaysngrace
@preraph My natural nails are all short and have grooves at the top from where my acrylics use to be. Can’t wait to get back to my salon!! At least they got to breathe for a while and they aren’t unattractive, just look short but I’ll probably paint them red too for color. plus looks great with my tan Edited June 22, 2020 by amaysngrace

Azincourt
Reading books, watching movies, going out for groceries, and listening to music. Oh and listening to the couples living in my residential building arguing and fighting each other every day because they're sick and tired of seeing each other's faces 24/7 and having no money.
dangerous
I've been on furlough for 3 months and live alone, so jokingly I tell people I'm living like a monk! I go out every day for a walk, and read alot and some movies. TBH I'm loving it, the peace, the slow pace and mindfulness. My job (I'm a PT at a gym) is likely to bomb for a long while, so I really ought to be active in re-inventing myself eg. home visits, outdoor classes, or change of career totally, but just now I am feeling SO lazy and chilled!! PS: As soon as cafes, bars open in UK, I will be out assuming I have any money by then Edited June 22, 2020 by dangerous

Drink plenty of milk and they will come back a lot sooner. It would be great if you could get them to where you didn't have to use fake nails because it does tear them up. But I know that just never works for some people. Yes a good hot color does look great with a tan!

Ruby Slippers
I got the stuff to do gel nails at home and they look great. I got the iridescent powder so I can do the unicorn/mermaid effect, which looks awesome. But it destroys my nails, which are normally very healthy and strong, so it's not practical for me. Bummer, cuz I love how it lasts forever.
preraph
There are some polishes that do destroy your nails. For years, I used the quick dry ones, but now some of the ones not listed as quick drying are also quick dry. I like Orly, and it looks like they have a new line of "breatheable" colors and got their platinum looking white back which was gone a couple of years ago. Orly dries pretty quick. Orly has some of those irridescent colors, RubySlippers, just in laquer. I like Essie's pastels, but feel they're a bit overpriced. I like a flat brush and they don't all have that. I think Essie has it.

They bond to the nail when triggered by UV light (hence why you gotta put them under the lamp before they're done), which creates way stronger bonds, and removing them actually removes the top layer of the nail (because they have to be filed, not just soaked in acetone). I like nail polish, but only did gel once for my wedding, and even then I was thinking twice because of the skin cancer risk (from the UV lamp). Not likely a problem if done occasionally, but on a regular basis I think it's best to stick to standard polish.
preraph
Yes, I looked into gels and knew it was going to be too hard to get it off, basically. And hard on nails. Some polishes stain the nails and some will erode the nails . Some are just easier on the nails than others.
preraph
I'm about to get really busy with work, probably for the next two weeks. I put a bunch of people on the "ignore list" so I wouldn't get distracted. Hard to get that self-discipline back after loafing this long! I'll still be on, but don't want to get bogged down and waste time.
