What are you doing these days?

I cut and dyed my girlfriend's hair today.  She was going to try to go back to the salon that used to do her hair (before the pandemic), but they have closed.  I guess that business is yet another victim of Covid-19.

Did you use caulk?

No... but I do have some black caulk leftover from a project.  I could try that next time!!  (LOL)

Well, one thing is for sure.

If you were to use caulk in hair dye, it's never coming out. Then you'd only have to recolor every couple of years.

I'm finding more and more bare shelves at grocery stores, Dollar stores, etc.  "V" commented how much she liked the egg noodle dish I made the other night, so I set out to find some more egg noodles.  Finally, at the fourth store, I found two bags of egg noodles and grabbed them.  I wanted more, but two will have to do (for now).

I'm also seeing less and less paper goods on the shelves (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.)  There is still some toilet paper on the shelves but a lot of vacant spaces where product should be.

Australia has almost no restrictions and open borders but cases are starting to spiral out of control. It's a weird position to be in after super conservative measures and being locked down for a month over 5 cases last year. Now they seem to be letting it rip. Many of my friends are locking themselves down and avoiding crowds.

I am double vaxed but was sick with pericarditis after 2nd Pzifer vax so am not keen on getting a booster. I think I will take my chances with COVID. I will likely go on an interstate holiday on Boxing day and hope for the best.

Over the weekend, I got A LOT of work done on my girlfriend's old Dodge.  But with old cars, as you do more work on them, the more you find that is worn out or about to break.

I just put in another order with RockAuto.  I've had really good luck with them.  The parts come quick, are the correct part and at a great price.

Christmas is cancelled. My niece and nephew tested positive for Covid this morning. Am feeling pretty sad tonight.

Bailey, I'm sorry to hear that. :(  I hope they both have a quick recovery.

Christmas is canceled for me as well.  Despite being triple vaccinated, I somehow caught one of the variants, Omnicron which has been spreading round here like wildfire! .  So I'm isolating at home.

My symptoms were dizziness followed by severe coughing.

I'm on the mend though and feeling better, but not all the way so been hanging out at home watching movies!

Last night I watched Moonstruck with Cher and Nick Cage who was extremely sexy in that movie, wowza!  💛

Anyway, wishing y'all a very merry and take care of yourselves!

Trying my best to stay out of the hospital. They are operating at 150% capacity in my state. It’s scary. I had a medical emergency in August, and even then had to wait 8 hours before I was seen.

Trying to eat well and exercise and keep my weight under control. Trying not to stress out. I’m hopeful that this new pill from Pfizer, Paxlovid, will hail the beginning of the end of covid, and relieve the enormous pressure our medical professionals have been under for two years now.

Thank you Bailey.  And yes I am, I enjoy my quiet time and my coughing is much much better too!

Also, wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that for personal reasons and with Admin's permission, I became Girl Fade Away for awhile but now back to being ME as poppyfields since most had figured it out anyway.

And yeah these variants going round are really scary so again please take good care.

I did and still caught it!  💛

Christmas day found me on the roof repairing two small leaks that occurred on Christmas Eve.  We had an inordinate amount of rain (here in the Desert) on Christmas Eve, which showed up as two leaks.  One next to a skylight and the other over a bow window.  So Christmas Day, I went up on my roof (caulk gun) in hand and fixed same.

I touched up the ceiling (with paint) early this morning and all is fixed (like it didn't even happen).

I finally have been approved for a great volunteer opportunity in a clinical setting as part of my education program. Been waiting on that for months and really looking forward to it but I'm super nervous at the same time. Not looking forward to all the immunizations. Bleh.

would never have guessed- just goes to show I am not quick enough either!

(there is another poster alright I think I know their previous identity)

I remember was quite touched by your story of your Dad re-uniting with an old love later in life, (that was you or am I going forgetful too)

GFA I had visualised as a feisty 20something who wanted to change the world and so on,

but there you go- well pleased to see you back as Poppyfields.

Other than being '20 something' I am still that "feisty girl who wants to change the world" no matter what name I assign myself!  Lol

Thank you for the welcome back!  😂

OK guys... now that Christmas is done and over with, time to start looking for a Valentine's gift for your girlfriend.

I've started playing in some on-line auctions today.  If I don't win, plenty of time to try for something else.

Guys... don't wait until the last minute, there are post-Christmas deals to be had.

Start shopping, NOW!!

I was bidding on (and just won) a red tourmaline ring.  Red tourmaline is her birthstone and she really likes it.

So my Valentines Day shopping is now done, I'll just wait for it to arrive, wrap it and hide it until February.

Today, I'm putting together a bunch of stuff for a Vietnam Veterans charity.  They send a truck around every couple of months, you just have to label and put out your donation on a certain day (next to your mailbox).  It is so much easier than carting everything to Goodwill and backing up to the dock, etc.

Since "V" moved in we just have too much stuff, mainly duplicates of kitchenware items.  She and I have a bunch of dishes and bake ware that will never be used, so it is time for them to find a new home. Also books...  "V" is an avid reader and will often buy books at the used book store. She'll read and enjoy them and she has kept a few of her favorites, but we just don't have room to store loads of books. So they will also go into the donation pile for someone else to enjoy.

"V" also really likes this red coral & turquoise necklace I gave her a few years back.  It's one of her favorites, so I started bidding on some red coral earrings, as well.

I got her a really expensive pearl necklace last year, but she never wears it.  She prefers the coral, opal, turquoise, jade and red tourmaline jewelry I've purchased for her over the years. (all of which were inexpensive and quite affordable).

I've decided, that I going to purchase what she likes and likes to wear... go figure.
