Also trying to keep the kittens off the keyboard, which is a losing battle, so I'd better end this post before I end up with a 20-line string of keyboard mashing that got sent to a few colleagues yesterday. Oops.

aren't they great at that age?

I feel your pain.   My quaker (monk) parrots are also pests when I'm trying to type.  They peck at the touch screen, try to attack my fingers and have been known to steal keys from the keyboard.   I basically can't use the computer when they are out of the cage.

I cut out a pattern for a fitted skirt yesterday.  Today I will make it using black stretch heavyweight fabric.  Will look good with a sweater, tights and boots in winter.

Son needs to get more exercise, so we'll take him for a short walk and hubby and I will do a proper walk later in the day.

Yesterday I undecorated Easter and put all that stuff away.  My summer decor is very minimal but I’m good there too now.

Oh, and I’m slowly falling in love 💗

What do Easter decorations consist of?  It's not part of my culture

And who are what are you slowly falling in love with?

We're having our house and pool deck painted.  Got a good price because of the pandemic.  Going with Sherwin Williams Duration Exterior for the house.  Colors are Morning Fog house with a Lazy Gray trim.  Also, two black stray cats have adopted us, so we're feeding them.

Will take them to the Vet for their shots and neutering when the pandemic subsides.  Already have for four strays we're taken in (now house cats) so there's no vacancy for anymore.  But strays can survive here in Florida because of the weather.

I just finished cleaning, lubricating and assembling the Evaporative Cooler for the upcoming heat wave (here in the dessert).

It is making nice fresh cool air...

We've been gardening for the first time ever! I grew up gardening/farming but have never really had the space to have my own garden until we moved here - and I've been so sick since we moved here that it wasn't really feasible before. This year is the year, though. Hubby built some raised beds plus we dug a few small patches near the house where the "lawn" was mostly weeds anyway. Got a small truckload of soil mix delivered. He filled all the raised beds himself, but I convinced him to buy another shovel and let me help with the rest. We moved a lot of dirt today, and got all of our starts in the ground! The kids actually planted most of the starts. Next year I'll make them do more of the hard labor.

We forgot to get cover material for the raised beds, though, so we haven't planted those yet. Those will all be seeds direct-sown and I'm pretty sure the birds/squirrels will just eat all of the seeds before they can start growing if we don't cover them.

It's all food. The only flower seeds I bought are nasturtiums. I'm skeptical that our supply chain will return to anything resembling normal anytime soon, so I'm pretty grateful to be healthy enough to do the work this year (even if just barely - had some horrible nerve pain for nearly two weeks, but it started easing up the last couple days).

I'm not sure what kind of yield we'll get. Our house and yard aren't in the best position for sun exposure, but we did our best with the space we've got! I gave myself a little crash-course in companion-planting to try to encourage it along as much as I can. I'm used to planting huge rows of crops, not small mixed beds... so, fingers crossed!

I trimmed the Oleander Hedge along the one side of my property, this morning.  I trimmed it about a month ago, but it rained here, then got hot. I swear the darn thing grew about 12 inches.  It looked unruly and messy, so I got out the electric trimmer and squared it up.  It looks much better, now.

They sound very naughty!!  I get a kick out of birds.  Did you ever see the many videos of Disco, the talking parakeet.  So cute!  He has passed away now, but it's all still on you tube.

By coincidence, just today a friend told me she got nasturtium seeds from the library!  Now, not sure if that's a thing everywhere or not, but it's free seeds and then they like it if you return the favor.

I spent the morning shopping and then cooking and am now working.

Texas is opening restaurants on a 25% capacity this Friday.  I think it's a bit soon.  Our numbers just spiked yesterday after a gradual decline.  I'm going to let them decline some, as desperately as I'd like to go out to eat.  It will likely take a week to get the restaurants back up and running properly with employees and supplies anyway, so I'll hold off as long as I can, I guess.  I may go to the vet though, if my vet is ready to do a full visit.

Seeds from the library... I never would have thought of that! I would bet we have a lot of things of that sort around here, though, now that you mention it. I'll keep that in mind for the seeds we have leftover! ❤️

I've been a lot more focused on trying to make amends to anyone and everyone whether I was in the wrong or not as of late. I just feel that I need closure (if I can get any) because there's no guarantee for tomorrow.

I have been planting (and replanting) the crops for summer.  We've had hail 3x in the last week and it just decimated everything.  Quarter size, golf ball size..... Sick of this garbage weather.  Probably won't have much fruit from the trees since the hail tore all the blossoms off.  Bad year to have this happen, with possible upcoming food shortages and everything.

Outside of gardening and raising my babies, I'm now working part-time for the county.  At least while this virus lasts, there's more work than usual to be done.  So I've painted some county vehicles, and I'm now the unofficial "department armorer."  I'm still not into cops, but having the sheriff come to my house and dump a box of guns on the porch for me to fix is kind of intriguing.  And the pay has been damn good too!  Better than any day I spent at the office....

My work may be coming to a halt soon.  So much of the business continuing is reliant on the kids going back to school or into daycare and that isn't even close to happening.  Meanwhile, people with kids can hardly conduct business even at home.

I'm trying to remain calm.  I can't go out and get a public job in the interim because I'm too high risk.  There is stuff on the calendar, but it gets cancelled.  They keep putting it back on there and then cancelling.

Don't you need an FFL to work on (Gunsmith) the firearms of local law enforcement??

You don't need an FFL to clean, swap parts, etc...  And even if that was the case, things work a bit differently down here 😉  If there was an issue, they'd probably just hire me I guess.

I just spent 15 minutes frantically playing Google cricket, today's retro Google Doodle.  Oh well, that was 15 minutes I didn't worry about the pandemic!

Trying to decide if it's time for the cleaning ladies to come pay a visit.  Also, trying to figure out what the conditions are travel wise somewhere like the Bahamas. I have not been on an airplane since this whole mess started and I am curious if anyone here has and what it was like.

I'm needing my plumber, but I don't really want people in the house.  One faucet is driving me nuts .  He can work probably.   I think it would be too risky though.

I have a pretty high tolerance for hanging out at home, but I am starting to feel the need to get the hell out of Dodge with all this pretty weather.  But traveling by car would be impossible because you can't even stop at the fast food places to use the restrooms.  Maybe you can stop at convenience stores, not sure.  Today I was wanting to do to the zoo.  Not open.

Some silly cow with a hair salon here is defying all the judge's orders and restraining orders because she's getting national press for opening anyway.  Her hearing isn't until May 12.  I hate it's come to this.

I gave the Mesquite Tree a light trim earlier this morning.  It was drooping into the road, so trimming it was required.  I saved all the limb wood (larger than a pencil) to cook with.

I let the wood dry for about a year, then use it in my Hibachi to grill hamburgers & hot dogs. I like the even heat and taste of the food after cooking over real wood.

"The same thing we do every night ... try to take over the world"

Not much has changed, except the world has gotten better at accommodating my misanthropy and we can't visit family. So you get a little and give a lot. Same as always I guess. Really glad to have gotten out of the cesspool that is CA in general and LA specifically before this hit. What a nightmare that must be.
