Don't people keep means to clean their hands IN the car?

I always have hand sanitiser and used it before going in and out of nursing homes. My sister joked that's why I got sick, my immune system stopped working properly!

We have 65 000 confirmed cases of Covid 19 in Houston's biggest county, of an official population @2.36 million.

I finished setting all of my granite tiles for the kitchen counter, now I have to wait for the thinset mortar to cure before I can grout and seal it.

I have a large composite (black) kitchen sink and need some black silicone caulk to re-install it.  I had some on order but the seller never shipped it, so I had to order a case from the BIG home improvement store.  I'll use the excess for some other project.  Hopefully it will show up in the next couple of days, as I want to put my kitchen back together!!

I went for a run this evening, had 2 long phone conversations with friends, one old friend from years back who lives in another state, one new friend who's local. The local friend and I are gonna get together soon for a walk in a nature spot and a takeout picnic. We're in a hot spot, so that's about all we can do.

She admitted she's been depressed, said our conversation uplifted her. She's quite social, so this is hard on her. She sent me pics of all this amazing food she's been cooking at home. It was fun having deep conversation with good friends.

I don't think anyone thinks it's a hoax now.

I think my neighbor across the street from us still does.  That's what he told me last month anyway.  Maybe he's had an epiphany though and now realizes it's real.  One can only hope.

He's welcome to come visit with me! I've never been sicker in my life.

I went up on the roof this morning and trimmed a tree that was overhanging and just about touching the roof.  I don't want the tree to scrub the roof and damage it, so I get up there from time to time and trim it back.  My loppers made quick work of the new growth and that job was done before it got too hot outside.

The Saturday before last I was half asleep floating in my pool when my wife who was watering flowers around the pool started yelling.   At the same time I heard this huge noise of cracking and branches breaking.

Turns out a very large swamp oak tree fell parallel with my back yard (conservation area) and knocked over a large regular oak tree that fell right towards my pool where old Piddy was taking a nap.   Luckily my chain link fence and pool cage stopped it.  Otherwise that could've been the end of Piddy.  :classic_sad:

We only had a sawzall which could cut up the small branches, but my neighbor came over with a chain saw.  We were able to cut it all up and trim some more branches.  I repaired my fence and poll cage and now we have a better view of the sky.

So my would be near brush with death had a nice outcome.   Except my wife now has a case of poison ivy.

He'd probably think you just had the flu.  Unfortunately these science deniers only get religion when they themselves get the virus.  Then all of a sudden it's no hoax.

Nobody's been more ( Christian/ Unitarian ) religious than me. It doesn't make any difference you get sick anyway.

I meant "get religion" figuratively and not literally.

@Ellener

How are you feeling?  Are you getting better do you think?  How long have you had symptoms etc.?  Wish you well as always. 🙂

I know. Thank you. I'm so tired. This is a really weird illness. I'm in quarantine one more day by CDC guidelines. I couldn't get out to pay some of my credit card bills so they extended the credit, I called them though I probably didn't make much sense. I'm just so exhausted. I was so strong before! So healthy. I just keep contrasting life before and after I got sick. I'm paranoid too, I got this anxiety disorder after Harvey, now I am more afraid than ever. Of nothing- I'm fine. Just sick with the coronavirus.

I think  it makes people sicker because it's more frightening.

Its too late now, but in the future if your wife accidentally touches poison ivy, I've had good luck with immediately washing my hands with some bleach water.  I read somewhere (many years ago) that the base in bleach will neutralize the acid in poison ivy.

I've used that trick (several times) in the past and never broken out.

Yes,  I've heard even if you can wash with soap and water immediately will prevent it.  But we were unable to do that.  We were playing in the trees and stuff for several hours dragging branches out etc..  It's actually on the other side of the fence where we were cleaning up so we normally don't go there.

I've since hit it with some Roundup and all is well back there now.

Working like always. Also baked a lasagne last night so I know what's for lunch. Printing a 1U rack shelf for a couple 16 port switches in my lab that are not properly secured yet. The usual more or less.

I finished grouting my kitchen counter top (this morning), just have to wait for the grout to cure, so I can seal it.  At that point, I'll re-assemble my kitchen.  I've been thinking about a new kitchen counter top for a long time, glad this project is in the home stretch.

My black silicone caulk arrived from the BIG Home Improvement store.  They have on-line orders and "ship-to-home" down to an art, click here, click there and poof its at your front door a few days later.

I had a couple of bizarre encounters yesterday.

The first one occurred at the gym.  I was in between sets and some guy walks up to me and says, "Hey man, I like your face."  My brain: "You've gotta be f*cking kidding me right now."  My mouth: "Thanks."  I started my next set before he had a chance to say anything else.  He got the hint.

After the gym, I made a quick stop at the grocery store to pick up a few items.  I was walking around with my post-workout strut from feeling pumped up and vascular, which means I'm walking a little slower than usual.  On my way back to my car another vehicle was creeping along behind me.  He could've gone around me, but chose not to (and no, it wasn't my spurned admirer from the gym).  Next thing I know, he puts the pedal to the metal and tries to run me over.  I rolled up over his hood and off the side of his windshield, then briefly gave pursuit as he sped off.  I don't know what on Earth would possess someone to do something that stupid.  Hope his car's okay. 😁

Well , my nice new car only just made it today , to me , which was quite  feat. Not brand new , it's my 6yrs old brand new car. lst , on Friday my bro and l got lost gold detecting out in the bush and couldn't find the car heading back on dark. lst l got lost going back, later he was heading back and got lost too, That would've meant one very cold night under a tree , and l'd miss going to see the new car sat morning. Well that's a 3hr drive and the seller had very bad social anxiety l find out later that's why it took 3 different tries to eventually line him up for Saturday. Well , he's city was also going back into full lockdown Sunday , now or never. l got there sat and he couldn't talk or look up and l realized what the problem had been. l said that's ok mate what if l just take a look myself and checked the car out. Every now and then he'd come to life explain this or that then shut down again. later l say mind if l just take it for a bit of a drive, he couldn't look or speak but sorta tried and so l took it for a spin. Got back he was all chatty and full of beans and blurted out all the details in about 30secs flat then clammed up again head low and looking at the ground. Well l'd made my mind up and said what about ex amount , that'd be cash and l'll come back Sunday before lockdown and pick it up that ok, He kinda nodded to all , then suddenly yeah , yeah, that'd bbbbbb great, we'll message the details tomorrow.

l headed home, he messaged said l'll run the car up to your place Sunday if you like. Hell yeah , fantastic. Then l get a message from his wife explaining his anxiety and that he can't leave the house but he does drive sometimes l'll try to get him out the door and whatever time it is you',ll just have to go with it. Get a message 3am , he's just left now, he's got a friend with him he'll be ok. Then l get a message from him 5am l'm an hour away be there soon. later l get a message from a friend it turns out lives 45mins from me, he can't drive now but don't worry l'll fix him up and we;ll get the car there lunchtime, Well he got here at lunchtime , ahhhhhh, thank you my friend.

He was normal again and all chatty , l could tell he was really pleased with himself for doing the trip and delivering the car . He's also a diesel mechanic and told me all about the car and motor and special work he'd done on it . 20mins or so , then he got up and ran outside . He's friend said don't worry l'll go get him. He came back in , said anyway we better be off, pleasure doing business with ya and casually walked out chatting away all good.

One of the nicest guys l've ever met , and the car , coooollllll as. love it. Messaged me 6pm saying they made it back just before lockdown and thanks again.

Forecast is for up to 6 inches of rain. Got a son to come and watch me NOT (hopefully) fall off the root (hope was fulfilled as usual but it's always wise to have a spotter). Cleared the gutters (mostly). Made sure the downspouts were downspouting (mostly - one is slightly blocked - if I had been smarter I'd have taken a drain snake up there with me). Bought him dinner as a thanks. I have a set of downspout extensions, a little over 100' in all. I dragged those out of the garage and hooked them up. Now just watch. All that prep work and the storm with probably bypass me. If that happens I hope the neighbors appreciate the karma I bought them. :p

Up a little early (4:20 am) and working. Installing Kali Linux for some testing. Installed CentOS 8.2 for some other stuff. The fam is asleep so that's nice.

I'll be sleepy early tonight I think.

I just finished re-installing my kitchen sink.  I still need to touch-up the caulking a bit around the sides/lip, but its in.

I'm so happy to have my kitchen sink back in its hole and operational.  YEA!!

I still have to give the kitchen a real good cleaning, then I'll move the fridge back into its hole and the new kitchen counter top project will be 100% completely done!!

Did a run to Sam's club.

I wish they would quit moving stuff around.

I was greeted at the door by a fit young man but what I sensed was private security. He asked for my membership card and no problem. I also noticed that the bums that usually are around begging for money are no longer on the lot. I can't say I'm sorry about that. They would approach you when you were loading the car. Pretty crafty on their part.

Everyone had masks and I would judge things are around 85 percent back to normal. Traffic was thick.

They are still having problems with toilet paper and paper towels. Other staple items like saltine crackers were missing. I picked up lots of vegetables.

No problem getting home.

Tomorrow I take the car in for an oil change and I might take a chance and stop at the music store.

The old world is re-emerging.
