What are you doing these days?

Happy Lemming

I just finished doing my 2020 Income Taxes.  Everything came in line with my estimates.  Now I just have to wait for the Federal Government to open up the computers and I'll input my data/numbers.

I'm glad that chore is done and over with!!

Is it safe to even go out and socialize at bars/restaurants? Where I live the the bars close at 10p, cases are going up every day and I see ppl mingling, having a good time.

Interesting isn't it, same here, but the same places seem to have packed parking lots and it's difficult to imagine patrons are social distancing, though 50% occupancy has just been triggered by the rise in cases.

I'm not going many places at all and only see my son and a friend. I'm used to the solitude now.

2020 Income Taxes.

Not my favourite job either, but I too have all the papers added and ready to input...

Busy finishing a course I started late without realising there is a final submission date of 15 January.

One of my friends is getting vaccinated this week, the appointments are booking up as soon as they become available. I check in every couple of days, I'm diabetic so in the second group who should be able to access it.

Not the most productive day! but very relaxing...

I work from home. Everything is closed here except grocery stores, pharmacies and banks + a curfew at 8 pm.

Home feels like a prison these days. I get out about once a week for company banking then back home, a big 20 mins out!

I try to tackle a home project once a week like cleaning a closet, repainting baseboards, little sewing projects and got back into knitting socks, scarfs, hats. I try to not spend too much time on wayfair and shein. Easy to get happy-fingers on websites that remember your credit card number.

I delete most of them after I use it for that reason!

I've got my credit frozen and alerts set up for my cards/accounts since the second attempt to use my social security number this past few days...this time it was someone using it to get a job and the IRS notified me and put an alert on my 'account' there. Strange times we live in...

I'm dyeing my girlfriend's hair today.  She was complaining about a little too much gray showing at the roots, so its time for a dye job.

Clairol Nice and Easy to the rescue.  She also wants me to trim an inch off the bottom.  I'm a little nervous about cutting her hair, but I think I can cut a straight line along the bottom.

I trim my own hair, and I've learned to always take a conservative approach.  Especially if you cut when it it's wet, it can easily end up shorter than you had intended!

Thanks for the tip, I just finished putting the dye on and we are in the waiting period.

How's the hair?

I tried to trim mine once with my best scissors, which were sewing scissors, bad Idea. It's worth investing in a real pair or hairdresser scissors.

I spent my weekend in pj's watching series.

It turned out GREAT!!  I've dyed her hair before, so I kind of knew what I was doing there.  I took @FMW advice and just trimmed off the minimum to even out the ends, no more.  An inch would have been a bit too much.

I actually had an inexpensive pair of hair scissors that came in my "clipper" kit, so I used them to trim up her hair.

After drying with a blow dryer, it looked great and "V" was quite happy with the results.

My old work truck has become incontinent and is leaking coolant.  I think its leaking from the thermostat housing/water outlet.  At least that is what it looks like.  Everything else on the engine is dry including the water pump, which is where I expected to find the leak.

I ordered parts last week and they should be in tomorrow.  So I'll tear it all down (today) and clean everything up in anticipation of my parts arriving.  The old girl is 23 and really starting to show her age and the abuse she has taken during all of the housing renovations I put her through.  Its no surprise she needs a little TLC, at this point.

Parts finally came in for my truck and I put it all back together.  No more coolant leak.

As I sit here and type, I'm thinking "OK... what's next??"

I just got back from the grocery store, they had ground beef on sale, so I picked some up and froze it.  My girlfriend has already told me she wants another meatloaf the next time she comes over.

I picked up a chest freezer, yesterday.  I had been watching for post-Christmas sales and didn't find anything.

I decided to check for President's Day sales (yesterday), and a local "Big Box" store had the exact one I wanted on sale. YEA!!

I had a small/medium sized chest  freezer (gave it away when I sold my house).  I used to stock up on grocery store sales on meat.

If they are too big though and you don't "rotate your inventory" frequently, you can forget what you have.  I found an 8 year old turkey at the bottom of mine when I cleaned it out the last time!

The guy I'm involved with loves to fish and has a chest freezer full of crappie and bluegill.

He uses Tony Chachere seasoning, lightly breads it in a cornmeal/flour mixture and uses a deep fryer when he's preparing it for a group.  It's really great, I and all our friends love it, and he loves cooking it for everyone.

When he's alone he eats it for breakfast by just lightly buttering and baking it (no breading).  I haven't eaten it that way, but he says that's his favorite.

Last week there was a big sale on chicken legs, back, breast so I bought 'a lot'.

As they are in family pack I prepare them in freezer bags in smaller package.

So I am walking with the meat to my freezer that's in a back room. I put a first batch in, head to the kitchen and prepare the second batch and head back. When I get to the freezer it's been locked (auto-lock) because I had opened it a few minutes prior so it will lock until its temperature lower to proper temperature. I put  my 2nd batch of chicken on top of the freezer telling myself I'll be back in 5 minutes................

I forgot.

A couple of days later my teen started saying there is a weird smell coming out of the little back room. Yep, lost about 8 meals gggrr!

What I am doing is drinking a 40 ounce cup of Starbucks Coldbrew, I may get another one!  Yikes that stuff is strong but soooo good!

After which I will do some Yoga, then get out and go for a run on the bay.

Return and eat lunch - don't laugh, but kale chips I made earlier, baked with sunflower seeds, tahini, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and salt.

After that, continue watching an old TV lawyer series from the 70's.

Doesn't my life sound exciting!  😂 😂
