UpInLights
So I posted here once before about me and this lad I’m sitting in my garden in isolation, and I read it back for the first time since I wrote it! I realised how great of an outlet this forum was when I need it to be, especially for someone like me who’s never been that great at laying their feelings on the table irl! I also realised that I wanted to give it a proper conclusion! Me and bf had a holiday booked this week. We should have been flying out to Paris Friday evening, eating lots of bread and cheese today, drinking great wine and day tripping to Disney....instead, like everyone else, we’re basically in lockdown.. meaning I can’t work at all which is pretty dull and he’s trying to teach high school students on Zoom (not sure who’s got the toughest end of that stick) 🙈😂 I went out yesterday (to the supermarket - about as exciting as it gets) and then to visit my mum at her nursing home. I can’t go in and see her but they let you wave through the window and I wanted to do that because I don’t know when I’ll be able to go again, or see her again, and I’m worried about her! I got home, walked in, and I’m greeted by bf in the lounge, down on one knee, and around him he’d made out of cardboard boxes and paint these huge like 4 ft replicas of the Eiffel tower, The Louvre & Notre-Dame!! They were so amazing (and I’d wondered why he hadn’t been coming to bed at the same time as me for the last week 😆) I honestly didn’t have a clue, not a scooby!! He was like “[my full name] you are such a pain” which made me laugh “but I love you so much that it’s ridiculous, and I promise you forever that I would move mountains for us.. or in this case, buildings. Will you have me for the rest of lives?”. It’s not overly mushy, but for me he couldn’t have said anything more genuinely perfect! 🥰 He said to me in bed later, “you’ll tell me if your freaking out right? Because I’m not saying that we need to get married tomorrow, I just want you to know that I know what I want for the rest of my life”. I told him that I’m not freaking out, and I know what I want too - and I knew when I said it that both those things were the gods honest truth! And now I’m sunbathing in the garden, watching him dig up ground for a fire pit, and I’m just thinking that....I literally have no idea how I ever got so lucky! He’s enough to make me wonder if I should believe in fate! ...Maybe the best things in life really do find you when you aren’t looking for them. Anyway, I’m taking too much but.. the worlds a pretty scary place at the moment, so this is my cheery little post ✌🏼 4
