poppyfields
It's been crap weather here since this lockdown on March 19th, which is so unusual for us! I mean like hard rain, every single day. And cold! For us. So folks aren't inclined to go outside anyway, but it will be interesting to see what happens when it starts getting nice again. I bet a whole lot of tickets are gonna be issued. Our peak isnt expected till mid May, and it may be some time after that when lockdown gets lifted. simp, are you a golfer? My dad was big time, before he passed. Edited April 10, 2020 by poppyfields
simpycurious
I don't see how people deal with the cold for so many months of the year but I guess everyone is different. It is definitely a hobby, Poppy but I probably have too many hobbies. What do you enjoy doing? I just don't see people sitting out ALL of SUMMER. The beaches, the lakes are just too tempting. I honestly don't see the issue as long as you adhere to the social distancing rules. The areas we have are private so it's not like tons of people will be there. poppyfields
All the beaches, parks, golf courses, football fields , restaurants, bars, clubs, are ALL legally shut down simp. And probably will be for a while. Hefty fines if seen there. This city, the second largest in CA is literally like a ghost town when typically it's buzzing with activity. Very few cars, no one walking, if they are they're alone. It's quite surreal, like something out of a horror movie, literally. Just read today, NY has 7,000 deaths. To all you New Yorkers, please take extra care and try to stay safe. Right now (8:00 pm PDT), folks are on their decks, blowing horns, flashing their lights and yelling, in support of those on the front lines - doctors, nurses, hospital workers who risk their life every day to help save people. Every night at 8:00 pm this happens. It's really quite something. Nite simp, and everyone, stay safe. Edited April 10, 2020 by poppyfields
simpycurious
Yes Poppy, I have friends from an area called Rancho Santa Fe in CA that have told me similar stories. To think about places Coronado Beach and LaJolla Cove being empty in April is MIND BLOWING. I applaud these brave health care workers and their courage. You describe it well "a horror movie." I hope you are being cautious and that you will sunshine soon. So I guess you can go to the store and that's about it? What if own a private area of the beach or a lake house that is not public?

I'm familiar with all those areas you mentioned simp, I used to live in La Jolla. And yeah, it's going to be a real struggle to keep folks away from our beautiful beaches come summer. I just read that all sporting events are cancelled until at least Thanksgiving! THAT is gonna be a real hardship, not only for the folks who enjoy those sports, but to our economy as well. To answer your question, if you own part of the beach (which many do round here), or a lakehouse, that is your own private property, however, you're still not allowed to congregate in groups more than 10, and will get fined if you do, even on your own property! There was one case where a couple had their wedding reception outdoors at their home - 50 people. The police were notified, they came and issued a warning. That is a true story!! I get the group size thing but I have not heard of anyone not being able to use their property (we all do) regardless of where it is. Gyms are closed, of course restaurant but not the country clubs which I am glad for but I wonder why they aren't. There are definitely groups at these clubs that congregate there might be some sort of loop hole not sure. Lots of people at the private tennis clubs as well. Maybe, it's the "exercise" aspect that allows them to be open. I have NOT HEARD that about Sports and not sure that is accurate. There is ONE particular sport simply cannot be cancelled.........major ugh on that

poppyfields
You can use your property but you are still required to maintain social distancing and not congregate in groups more than 10. The wedding ceremony took place a few weeks back, folks are much more careful now and adhere to the order. Although I'm sure there are still some exceptions. The reality is, no one knows who's been where and asymptomatic people are the ones doing most of the spreading. It's bad here simp, perhaps not as bad as Rancho Sante Fe, or other exclusive areas, but folks are now taking this very seriously. It's quite scary actually. Edit: Re sporting events being cancelled (in my city), I will find the news clip and link it or quote it. I hear ya, major ugh! Edited April 10, 2020 by poppyfields

Poppy, you are NOT talking about professional or collegiate sports are you? I am more connected with those and have not heard anything of the sort (although there is TALK) as far as CANCELLING Fall sports. One sport in particular is pretty important. Let's hope you are talking about something else. I will say this though....the social distancing being extended is more than likely going to happen so how can be people GATHER in the big sporting venues and adhere to social distancing? Fingers crossed this will all be over by Fall, trying to stay positive. The curve is beginning to flatten in SD and other areas in CA as well, that's good news!

From what I am reading, the curve is getting flatter due TO THE SOCIAL DISTANCING which is adding more fuel to the argument of continuing it (social distancing) through the summer. Lots of very UNEASY people in the athletic world right now and truly no viable options.

Just read an article that someone sent to me. 3 out of 4 people surveyed WOULD NOT attend a major sporting event unless and until there is a proven vaccine for the RONA (in Cookie speak) Just a poster but that survey above shows the mindset of many (or at least the sample group) Edited April 10, 2020 by simpycurious
poppyfields
I believe it. I read this morn that this virus may even turn out to be a seasonal thing (like the flu) unless and until a vaccine is developed and the race is on to do just that. Sadly, may be a while though. chillii
lf l were single and met someone right now l'd still meet but only if it was special , as long as neither of us have been around anything risky in the last 2 or 3 wks and feel normal. l mean l could say point blank l've not been near anyone or anything risky. You'd obviously talk about that but if your both 100% then just go for a walk or something , sit in the yard, whatever. Well a single women straight up ok maybe not the yard buttt, you know. But eh , in these times l'd def vid chat first see each other that way feel things out before l bothered. Edited April 11, 2020 by chillii

So in truth, you actually have no idea whether you've been exposed or not. Your girl may have but be asymptomatic. It's possible mate, just sayin. You can stay six feet away (social distancing requirement), but what if she sneezes or coughs? Those sneeze or cough droplets travel through the air on to you. This virus is SO contagious, you will be infected, no question. That's what make this particular virus so dangerous. Or you could be asymptomatic right now, not know you have it, and be exposing her. I wouldn't risk it, but it's your call. Stay safe!! Edited April 11, 2020 by poppyfields

The sunshine is back simp, so yeah it's hard! Being couped up like this. We're allowed to go outside for a walk, which is what I'm about to do with my pup. Gonna head down to the bay. Police are out in full force (I live downtown where there is typically high activity) making sure everyone is complying. Our numbers are getting lower, so it appears it's working. They're projecting a few more weeks, before order gets lifted. I'm sure there will still be some restrictions in place though. What a nightmare!
