Ellener
'This April has some of the most important religious celebrations of the year, including Passover, Easter, Vaisakhi and Ramadan. But how can people celebrate these traditional gatherings when many of us have to stay at home?' I will attend one of my favourite churches online for Easter and I have a microwave here which I will use to cook some frozen green peas and frozen veggie burgers, plus two bottles of soda for Easter Sunday. All the parks and trails will be closed here so not even socially-isolated walking, but I'll go for a drive or walk round the sub-division when everyone else has gone in.
CautiouslyOptimistic
I will be doing similar, Ellener. My kids are at their dad's so I'm by myself. My church has 10 services online so I'll watch one of those and make myself something nice to eat :). Easter is my favorite holiday. My mom just stopped by here for some red wine to take for communion tonight while she watches a Good Friday service online lol! I had one little salad dressing container (like you'd take with your lunch to work) so I filled that up for her.....perfect size for communion. She cracks me up. She has white wine at home, but it has to be red....:)
Gaeta
I will make a nice dinner & chocolate fundu for dessert. I already got Easter treats for kiddo. Sunday we will drive to my brother 5 mins away to drop at his door an Easter treat for my nephew and wave hello to them throught he window. We will videochat with my daughter/her bf and later with my parents. I miss all of them.

amaysngrace
We’re watching live-streamed mass which stinks because we usually do the sunrise mass on the beach but they’re not having that this year. I’m baking bread and traditional Easter cookies and we’ll do mimosas with our breakfast. I’ll cook a nice dinner, it’ll be okay. i picked up two big bunnies and some other candies a couple weeks ago so I’ll make up a basket for each of my children even though they’re adults. Who doesn’t love candy?

I haven't got anything here except a few hard candies, if I go to a store I'll get me some super-dark chocolate for a compromise. ( my diabetes is managed by low carb diet! ) Think there might be some microwave popcorn too...could drizzle chocolate on that?!
amaysngrace
That would be yummy Ellener. If you have white Karo you can make caramel and drizzle some of that on there too.
FMW
I'm 55 and my mom still gives me Easter baskets full of candy! Not this year though since we live several hundred miles away and are locked down. One of my friends has very young grandchildren and she's making Easter baskets for them and dropping them off on their front porch, as well as "hiding" a few plastic eggs with prizes inside around their front yards. She said she's going to park across the street and wave and watch. Making the best of the situation!
basil67
Bunch of athiests here, so Easter is just about food and Easter eggs. We're doing a big jigsaw with our daughter and online quizzes with our son. Today we will walk a 10km round trip to have a chat over the front fence with a friend. Because the Royal Easter Show has been cancelled, daughter helped son make 'show bags' for everyone. And I apologise in advance if that sentence only makes sense to fellow Australians. The Outlaw
Besides the shelter in place order for our area, I won't be doing anything. Weather forecast models call for severe thunderstorms with the potential for a tornado outbreak.

The Outlaw
Just now, Ellener said: we had storms yesterday but the hail predicted didn't happen here. Stay safe, super safe! I will. But they're also forecasting strong tornadoes at that with golf ball sized hail. Fun times. But most storms always move off to the northeast each and every time when we're under the gun.
Woggle
We bought some easter candy on our last shopping trip and we will have some of it plus call the rest of the family. My wife is sad that she can't see her parents but they are safe and fine.

carhill
For those contemplating celebrating the resurrection of Christ in the traditional manner on Sunday in Kentucky, be aware: Quote For those who decide to participate in a mass gathering of any type of which the state is notified of, the license plates of those individuals will be recorded and given to health department officials. They will then visit the individuals home bringing with them an order to quarantine for 14 days.

carhill
Nothing for me, friends are elsewhere and we're locked down, haven't been in a church since 1984 when my father died shortly before Easter. After many years of intense schooling and indoctrination I left all that behind. I do respect the faith of others though, something my mother taught since she wasn't religious. IMO, humans of faith have been gathering to worship for millennia, disease or no disease. I think they should do what their faith and conscience tell them to, exercising free will as God's/their deity's children.
major_merrick
@carhill Thankfully, that license plate tracking deal is easily solved. Bring screwdriver, remove license plate. Cover VIN with paper or temporary paint. And I would think that churches could prosecute (or persecute?) people who come onto their PRIVATE property to harass others. Our community will have a meeting at the temple for Easter. But it will probably be lightly attended, as the elderly and moms with little kids will stay home. Our apostle has maintained a "neither encourage nor discourage" position on attending services. He has continued services, outdoors only. He has stated the facts about the virus' impact on vulnerable groups, and encouraged everyone to exercise their free will and conscience. People can gather outside together, or drive in with their cars, or stay home and watch online. I'm definitely not going, and I think my husband is staying home with us as he has been doing since the virus arrived in our state. Still no cases at all in our county. Ours is usually at a club with a huge Easter Buffet. Lots of sundresses, seersucker suits. Something my Mom looks forward too which makes her boys happy but it won't be the same.
