Just watched "Love is blind" at netflix. Seriously? found the love of your life and got married in six weeks? I can't even make a decision to buy anything big in six weeks.

I also saw an article not long ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/mar/23/how-we-met-he-was-the-most-beautiful-man-id-ever-seen-i-asked-him-are-you-single

How can someone just decide she met the man of her life at first sigh and stick with it? I had a strong attraction toward someone for close to 2 years and I just let it frizzled out. I did not approach like the woman in the article. Is it normal for a woman to be that aggressive nowadays?

I do not know. Do I have a problem?

I wouldn’t say it is a ‘normal’ approach but not is it abnormal.  She felt a feeling and took a risk and it paid off.

As they say, fortune favours the bold.

I think it's just a show.

for ordinary people, can we really decide on marry someone based on mental connection? How desperate do we need to be?

can a emotional connection be so strong, that we decide that we can't live without each other, no matter how the person looks?

On the contrary, the woman in the Guardian article, she decided on the man based solely on the look alone. In this case, love is totally visual.

Spring, I think it went a lot deeper than simply his looks.  It was his energy that she felt, combined with her energy = powerful connection that is difficult to describe unless you've experienced it, which I have so understand it.

And it "can" be immediate, and last a lifetime.

I know. I am just playing devil's advocate here.

I think love is probably more visual than blind.

I have experienced immediate attractions of my life. I just never acted on them. Generally men that are taken are more attractive. but men are not that devoted and monogamous, just because they are taken doesn't mean they can't be taken away. but I prefer to be pursuit.

@Spring, I'm wondering if we're referring to the same thing?

I'm not talking about finding a man "attractive," I'm talking about feeling "attracted to" a man based on mutual energy, chemistry, that immediate feeling of "connection" like you've known each other forever.

I've known a ton of attractive men in my day, models, actors, I used to work in the business many moons ago, but NEVER felt "attracted to" any of them although a few did ask me out.

It runs deeper than merely finding a man (or woman) attractive.

Have you ever felt that?  That immediate feeling of connection that goes over and above his physical appearance?

JMO but I suspect that was what the woman in the article and her now husband felt, and hopefully still feel!  :)

Well , that was only a movie , Hollywood , la la land , not real.

But never the less , it does happen , all the time , knew l'd marry my w day we met . Way back in older days that sort of thing was very common my dad saw mum in a bank and he was done , married 56yrs. You can still know and fall in a few days , wks, right person . those that know themselves and still have a clear head anyway which doesn't seem to be too common these days butttt, some .

There is such a thing as love at first sight...........sort of........it's just a high level of love or crush out of the gate.

Also........yes, about half the relationships out there, the woman made some major moves. Half my relationships happened because the woman was aggressive in the beginning.

But note that in the article, she had to see the man randomly 3 times and he started the conversation. Then she took it to the next level.

I met my husband back in uni. We got engaged the next day and have been married now for almost 23 years.
it's not always been sun shine and roses, but I do love him and for the most part. I am happy.
