Now that I am completely responsible for the business, now I understand what he meant when he said leadership is lonely. I often have to make decisions solo. I have access to information that I can't share with anyone. And now in these times where it's all about survival, I am forced to take decisions. One of the trickiest parts of being the leader of a small company is realizing that while your team cares and supports you, no one is there to share the accountability. I suppose if any of them are armed with enough info to help you make decisions, you could do a limited think tank of those who might know enough to think of a solution. It does suck when you have info you can't talk about. I am in that position too, and especially on here, it is very hard to not be tempted, but most of my work is confidential and some of it is at a high level. You just have to learn to trust yourself. Leadership is accountability - to your stakeholders, public, employees.. Responsibility whether Big or Small u have to decide favorable or not to the parties concern. This will take us forward another 6 months without having to fire anyone. My exH is helping me set up an alternative revenue stream which is parallel to the existing business.
