Cancelling at the last minute

Recommended Posts

A friend {known him a year}  called me to cancel at the last minute. It was h[is birthday and I had planned a restaurant meal with friends. Am I reading this right? Was he saying leave me alone? I get the feeling he was, tbh,  but maybe that is in my imagination.  Opinions?

When did this happen?  If recently you have to account for the possibility that post-lock down he might not be ready for a public group.

Is he just a friend or a love interest?  Did he know you planned a restaurant meal that included his friends and if so what restaurant let you do this?

Just ask him why.  I mean, people aren't supposed to be gathering like that, but seems like he would have said so.  Also, maybe it being his birthday, he has something else planned.  Might have been nice if he'd included you,but maybe it's a girl or something.

I agree with preraph if you two are just friends.  Maybe he got a chance to "get lucky" on his birthday so he cancelled all else.

It can be any number of reasons, but I wouldn't put too much stock into it unless he's done it much more than once. Try to reschedule and go from there.

Did he know that you had this whole thing planned? Because it seems a little selfish of him to cancel if he did know. And if he had other plans with someone else  he should have just included that other person in your plans, invited them to the restaurant. Are restaurants open to do this kind of thing?
