charlie007
I'm just curious what it does or if it helps you. I'm not diagnosed but I'm an adult and I seriously believe that I have it. I've never been to a therapist or a psychiatrist but during some really, heavy self-realization and online research lately, I'm pretty sure it's what I have. I know the dangers of self-diagnosing so, I wouldn't confirm it until I saw a professional and was tested but man, all the symptoms seem so "me".

preraph
I'm sure since you've been reading you know that there are some treatments for ADHD. you have to realize that not all treatments work on all people the same way. but the first thing you need is a diagnosis from a psychologist or psychiatrist and then if it's a psychologist they refer you to a psychiatrist if meds was called for. There are also ways to play to your strengths when you have ADHD. You might want to read the book The ADHD Advantage by dr. Dale Archer as your next read. He's quite brilliant and he puts a positive spin on all of the personality trait scales. One of his basic messages is that everyone falls somewhere on a continuum of eight traits, and those who fall highest on certain traits have the most problems, but he's a firm believer that you can take advantage of your extreme traits. HIs other book, Better than Normal, includes a self test you can take to see where you fall on the different traits.
Ollie180
I have ritalin - but only to take when needed (like before an exam or something) ...hardly ever take them these days because.. I don’t really like it (it makes me feel weird) and I feel as an adult I can manage my ADHD & my life better. I still have some in the cupboard though so if I really felt I needed it.. it’s there.
Snow_Queen
I have been tested and diagnosed with ADD. In the past, I have been on Adderol. It makes me very sleepy which made it hard to work. Very counterproductive. Eventually, I learned to cope through use of daily to-do lists and being very rigorous in following through. I have to be mentally prepared each day by not allowing any distractions when I must be focused. No music, no phone, and trained myself to ignore surrounding noise. I wish I could offer more advice but that’s how I personally cope.
