lovesfool
My situation is that I've been virtually dating a guy for the past two months and have not yet met him in person. It's all been Zoom calls and messaging, but we get on very well and can see it going somewhere. My country's current restrictions do not allow you to travel very far and he lives 2 hours away. It looks like these restrictions are going to be in place for a long time to come and can't see myself lasting that long. He has taken the decision to come see me for a socially distanced date (no contact!). He's willing to take the risk with the police if he is stopped on the road, but I think enforcement is quite low right now so can't see it being a problem. I'm going to be responsible and have no contact with him at all and keep 6 feet away the whole time. The problem is that I don't know what to do for the date! Bars, restaurants and most amenities are closed. All we could realistically do is go for a walk, but I don't want to have him waste his time travelling for 2 hours and just go for a walk in a park then face another 2 hour trip. Does anyone have any other ideas of what we could do? I'm not very good in the imagination department!
d0nnivain
A walk is probably your best bet. You could try a BYO picnic.
Ellener
One of my nicest dates before the pandemic we walked at night a pretty street with antique and art shops which were all closed, and discussed things we saw! As a social distance date maybe take pictures which become part of an ongoing discussion/sharing/'our things'?
Author lovesfool
Thanks for the suggestions. A picnic sounds like a nice idea, or just a walk in the park or gazing at shop fronts! It's looking like it's going to rain the day he's coming to visit so all my (limited) plans might go down the drain!

I'm from england back when it rained a lot!...just make 'walking in the rain' part of your plans...take two umbrellas and do that little 'singing in the rain' dance from opposite sides of the street 🎶 💃🏽
Author lovesfool
We had our socially distanced date over the weekend. It was great. We went for a long walk in the park and really got to know each other. The problem now is that we want to meet again but have used up all of our ideas! I would love to have some drinks with him, even if it's just a picnic in the park. I find it a great way to loosen up and really get to know someone. Unfortunately he has to drive to visit me and wouldn't be able to drink, unless he stayed in my city. I'm worried I might suggest staying over sometime (my country now allows visitors to your home), but it may be too soon, I'm not sure. We have been (virtually) dating a long time and I feel like I really know him, but in reality we've only been on one in person date!
d0nnivain
Take another walk in a different park

All restaurants and bars are closed until who knows when. I might suggest to call into my house and watch a movie on the couch, socially distant of course!
