Ellener
Nice phone conversation tonight, I'm not going to spend much time on phone/computer and we made a tentative date in person next Saturday. The eating area is outdoors or we can tailgate or go to a park if it's busy. I told him I'm a bit anxious, I haven't been out in months, and he was cool about it.

spiderowl
Just don't forget your own personal security if you are meeting outdoors - which I guess most will be doing. Make sure there are others not too far away and try to avoid letting him know what car you drive or its registration number. Things can seem great at first but you just never know. Until you have got to know this guy better, be cautious and look after yourself. I really hope it goes well for you.
Blind-Sided
Well.... First... I wish you luck on the date. BUT....... Second... I see you are Texas. There is a CRAZY spike in OVID cases there because people aren't taking the social distancing thing serious, after things started to reopen. I personally wouldn't go to an inside restaurant if I was in your position. I would suggest some "Take out" and go to a local park to eat. (Just to help stay safe)

Author Ellener
It's like a parking lot benches place to eat, but already we're talking of alternatives, they are very popular and sold out of food last Saturday and closed early. I'll freak out if I'm somewhere and it's busy but I don't want to just go off somewhere with nobody around either...
Mrin
Lol. Good luck! I have to say, having a positive long term antibodies test result has proved to be quite the asset in today's dating game!
Author Ellener
Thanks @Mrin 😷 I have no idea what to expect, or if we'll even end up meeting. Go with the flow...sort of.

Author Ellener
It's tonight and I'm postponing, seems that Covid-19 only just hit us here...it's about to get bad, the ICU beds are almost all full. We do have an enormous capacity here, and the field hospital can reopen, but one doctor said this yesterday: "We did such a good job as a city and a state early on, now we have a lot to do. To lose all this ground, it’s disturbing.Stop thinking only about yourself. Think of everyone else around you. Please put your mask on. It's a big deal. Please keep your social distancing. If nothing changes, the choice will be out of our hands. Help us help you." Got to do my bit!
Author Ellener
I've just been watching this https://www.bbc.com/news/av/stories-52232551/coronavirus-love-and-dating-in-lockdown Kellyn found herself in Spain as the country went into lockdown, and decided to move in with a man she'd just met; couple Molly and Stuart have moved in together, but definitely not in the way they had planned; and Rosie is stuck in limbo unable to see the woman she'd been dating. I'm getting lonely and LS has filled the gap for a while but I need a new relationship now! I can see why someone would just jump in with both feet...whether that be go on holiday together or move in. The next video is what people are doing to occupy their time in lockdown, maybe I should do some of that!

You are ultimately doing the right thing. I do understand the loneliness. If anything you can take precautions and wear a mask and not touch your face and wash and sanitize regularly maybe venture out for your sanity sake.

It kind of showed me a bit of his personality in that he was cool about it, and I'm fairly sure it would be safe to invite him over except for the Covid risk. Maybe we'll do a long first date when we do meet- everything else seems to be turned on its head right now! I'm not doing a whole bunch of chatting daily, until we can meet. He seems fairly active on the match website and he says he's looking for a serious relationship. He'll soon find one. I thought I was too but hearing all the stories of couples in lockdown together has been worrying, maybe I just need a 'fling' to get my friend out of my mind. He'd come on over if I asked him but he's made it clear he does not want another permanent relationship and I think I would just be trying to convince him to! I love a challenge 🙄

The next video is what people are doing to occupy their time in lockdown, maybe I should do some of that! Funny you mention this...there's this woman, 60+ aged, who has been kind of seeing a man from an hour drive away. It was very casual, and she couldn't commit to a full relationship with him. Would refer to him as a man friend or traveling companion, as she was looking for someone to travel with. This was all pre-Covid...and now. Covid happened, and he's at her place...moved in fully. Him, from a single mans' apartment, to her nice, lake front house that she owns (got it in the divorce). Pretty good deal if you ask me. Guess he's taking full advantage of the situation. lol I read somewhere in the UK that the govt is recommending "cuddle buddies" for single people. Basically, I guess couple up with someone of the opposite sex you put in the friend zone. I guess "cuddle buddy" is a nice way of putting it. I love a challenge 🙄 Least he was cool about it. So you can say something positive came from this craziness. If he gotten mad it would have told you a lot more and nothing good. Maybe. Even if he is active on Match he may not have anyone, if this is still going on. So always a chance. Then you can plan a nice long day. Maybe start breakfast, than at a park, if ever, then end up doing something else. A big planned out day will do you wonders. Well, life is not without it's challenges! Lmao! Sounds like you are up for the challenge, so. Maybe you do need the distraction to get it off your mind. We are not made for being cooped up for long periods like this. So gotta do something for your sanity. A necessary distraction! 😉
Author Ellener
Well I've distracted myself with the internet all day so far! I think my body can take one more alcohol session before protesting so that can be my Saturday night 'Band-aid on loneliness' then tomorrow I'll come up with a new business plan and throw myself into that...getting a bit old for re-inventing myself but I'm sure I've got one more career in me. The friend I fell for is a workoholic too...I've had my life in balance with it for the last few years. I was planning to just take my pension and work part-time but the universe had other ideas... Was right to stay home though, the news is very conflicting in Texas ( people report based upon their political or other bias plus the way the data is collected- the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice just added in their prison figures ) but it's the numbers of available beds I keep an eye on now. 🍹
