ironpony
I lost my job, because the company went out of business a few months ago. Since then I went from about 206 to 178 pounds now. I am 6'1'' if height makes any difference. But my friend and my Mom are concerned saying I look like a lost quite a bit in a few months. But I like it because I wanted to loose weight anyway. In fact, I am afraid to start a new job, now after covid has died down more, because, I'm afraid of gaining it back. The last job was causing me a lot of stress which was causing insomnia that I talked about on here before. Now, after being laid off for a few months, my insomnia went away, because the stress from the job went away. I didn't know that the weight is connected to it, but it must be since I lost 28 pounds now, along with getting much better sleep. I like the weight loss because I feel I like better now. But should the weight loss be a concern? Edited June 23, 2020 by ironpony
basil67
While BMI isn't always accurate depending on body type, yours puts you in a healthy weight range. So if you're feeling well and your insomnia is gone, I'd say there's nothing to worry about.
Author ironpony
Oh okay, because I read that it's abnormal of someone of my height to go under 166, and I already lost 28 in a few months, so I'm getting closer to 166 now, if that's a concern.
CaliforniaGirl
Have you asked your doctor? She or he can tell you if you're healthy.
introverted1
Are you eating less? Or is this weight loss that happened in spite of you eating the same amount as you were before? There is a correlation between sleep and appetite and production of satiety hormones, so your improved sleep could be a factor.
Author ironpony
I mean eating less because before in the job, I had to work overtime and was working 60 hours a week. So I had three meals and two snacks on those days with over time. But now that I am currently not working since covid started, I have been eating only two meals and one snack a day for most days. But I thought that the improved sleep was probably helping digestion better as well maybe? Edited June 26, 2020 by ironpony

The improved sleep probably also means you're sleeping more hours and have less awake hours to fill with eating, right? I would not be concerned about this weight loss. 20 MORE pounds? Yes, be concerned.... But for now, it seems like it's probably just good/healthy for you.
Author ironpony
Oh well not twenty more pounds, just 28 so far I meant, that I've lost. But before when I had insomnia I didn't eat during the time I tried to sleep though. Just had more food when I got hungry for working overtime, was the only time I had extra.

Well, I know from experience that stress really messes with you metabolism, so maybe your better sleep and lack of stress has really helped you. I would not worry, especially at your age! I was taking medication to help the insomnia and it helped someone but perhaps even medication is working, the body still has bad digestion, compared to being able to sleep naturally? introverted1
The increased sleep will help to reset your hunger hormones so you are not as hungry. And you said you are now eating 2 meals + 1 snack vs 3 meals + 2 snacks so it is expected that you would lose weight. It sounds like you are at a good weight for your height. What I would like to do is maintime the same weight when I get a new job. But if I get a job again where I am working 50-60 hours a week, and I get more hungry as a result, is there a way to make myself full, without the extra weight gain, if I have to eat more than three meals a day, if I am working double shifts? introverted1
You can make calorie density work for you. Basically, the idea is to eat foods that are high volume and low calorie, so you feel full without having eaten a lot of calories. In general, vegetables and high fiber foods tend to fit this definition. Google "Calorie density chart" or look for an article from Healthline titled "Calorie Density — How to Lose Weight Eating More Food" for more details. I'd post a link but then this post would get hung up.
Author ironpony
Oh okay thanks. I tried vegetables before but I find I have to eat a lot more of them compared to say other foods to stay more while working. Is that normal?
