Naive
I am going to an interview tomorrow at a law firm and they asked me to take a writing sample. Never before have I been asked for one so I have no idea what are they expecting. The lady just said she would leave it up to me but that she did not want any stories, that I should already know:confused: Can anyone help me? Has anyone ever done this? hooghie
What type of job are you applying for? I just graduated from law school and have lots of writing samples, but I'm not sure how someone who didn't go to law school would have such a thing. They are most likely looking for something that shows that you can write in a clear, grammatically correct manner with a logical format. If you have anything that shows that you can argue 2 sides of an issue- that would be ideal. I wouldn't give anything that was too creative. If you let me know what type of writing you have done, what job you are going for, etc. I may be able to help you pick one. good luck!
Author Naive
I am applying for a legal assistant position. I am not yet in law school and I have 1 more year to go to get there! She did tell me, like I mentioned, that she did not want any stories or an essay about myself. That's all I know.
magda
An essay on some topic you've researched will fit. You must have something from school.
hooghie
An essay on some topic you've researched will fit. You must have something from school. Yup, that would be perfect. If you don't have anything like that, maybe a paper that follows the 5 paragragh rules.
