Recovering from coronavirus

Recommended Posts

My experience was a fever for 24 hours and chest pain, like having pneumonia/pleurisy. I can go get an antibody test for $10 from Labcorp here. I had been delirious for about four days, on and off, but not sick the whole time, just sleeping a lot and feeling confused and exhausted.

I think I got sick from one of the delivery drivers, I have only seen one friend in the past weeks and she's not sick.

I have this neck wrap thing which heats in the microwave, that's been a big help.

I hope you do recover. I really do. I was wondering how you could have gotten from a delivery driver. Did you have to sign for something or do something to come close to him/her?

Thank you!

My friends and son are checking on me...

I just bought the Covid test, it was $119 not TEN DOLLARS...as advertised.

@el. If you suspect a delivery driver, I suggest you report that possibility to 'the authorities'. While I don't know if said authorities have the manpower to to 'contact tracing', there is a chance they can track down other 'customers' who have become infected and did not recover as well as you seem to have done.

Well, best to contact the courier actually, and have the tracking # handy.

Thanks NoSpam. I don't want to get anyone in trouble though. People can't help being sick.

I think it's going through Houston rapidly right now, 50 000 people are currently registered as ill with coronavirus and we have had over 500 deaths.

I feel fine today, just got a residual chest infection/runny nose.

It's like having an elephant step on your chest! I feel way better tonight except I am mourning my friend's death. I think I am ok, and I just sent out for Uber Eats. Salad and fries!

OP so did you come into close contact with the delivery driver, so that you might have contracted it from his breath?

Oh my goodness, I'm glad you are ok. It must have been very stressful and painful. Please don't hesitate to ask for help if your symptoms start getting worse after the 5 days. Big hug for you!

Just handing over a tip and collecting the food @dangerous And I did that grocery pick up last week but the lady didn't come near me.

But this a very infectious strain apparently and some people have had no symptoms.

I have been very isolated for weeks, only seen a couple of people in the past few months, and they're not sick. I have a cough now which is unpleasant, I bruised a rib a few days ago and it's still sore. Glad I haven't seen anyone, I'd feel really bad if I made someone sick.

My sister says the antibodies take up to three weeks to appear so the test may be negative until then. There's a mobile testing centre nearby which sets up tomorrow I'll call them if I still feel ill, but I don't feel well enough to drive so I'll just wait for the labcorp test in the mail, I've spent the money now! The $10 test link went straight through to their website and I wasn't thinking straight. So it cost $119. Feels like I should be doing something, but there's nothing I can do only take aspirin etc drink water and sleep. I did eat yesterday, got no appetite though. Losing a ton of weight. I'm sweating a bit this morning though the a/c is on, my temperature is normal though. I took aspirin when I woke up.

I feel more calm today anyway, I was panicking yesterday and my friends said I didn't make sense on the phone. what a strange year. I feel like life will never get back to normal but I expect it will.

I forgot to change the address on my health insurance, I'll do that tomorrow. You have to do the whole application through from start to finish with healthcare.gov I always call them now as the website doesn't always update at the end then you have to start over.

I'm rambling on and on, it's a bit scary being alone but that's the anxiety. I expect my friends will call me later.

Hi there. So glad to hear you are feeling better. Definitely wait taking that test. Those tests usually only look for IgG antibodies - which are your long-term antibodies. Mine long term antibodies didn't show up until I was 4 weeks completely post symptomatic.

The mobile testing site is probably your best bet right now if you want to see if you're infected as they look for active infection. And if you've had it I can almost guarantee you still have an active infection - e.g. Contagious. Covid-19 has a really long tail.

Hugs to you! Don't worry - it gets better.

Ah sorry to hear you haven’t been well El! Just treat yourself well and allow your body a good rest!

I think it’s hard at the moment because hearing Covid symptoms and figures in the news all the time doesn’t help when you’re not well yourself! Get yourself a good series on Netflix and avoid the news maybe!

Glad you’re feeling a bit better now though!

Wanted to ask you, this virus does have a tendency to "sneak up on you" when you feel better. For some, it' s like "Oh wow, I feel okay now" then a few days later, you're back in bed all day again".  Very unpredictable. It can linger for months for those who have slight symptoms.

These people were the result of a low viral load usually.

It's been pretty bad here, I think my mental attitude of fear and depression is why I am not getting better, I still have the same chest infection cycle so I sleep all the time now but Houston is the ideal city for America and American values and every day something new happens to break our spirits.

@brokengirl85  we got a message today saying we have covid-19 on the property I live, I am still home until 30 th then I get antibody testing but sharing stairwells and handrails people should use disposable gloves and hand sanitiser.

Not sure how useful antibody tests are until we know how efficient they are and whether it means can't get the infection again or pass it on.

We should avoid trying to blame or shame anyone who gets sick.

People need to come together to fix this not use it as hatchet job agendas.

I am determined to get well, but my symptoms are like having heart disease, can't breathe.

I hope I can write something useful.

I'm sorry to hear you don't feel you're getting better.

The only idea I have right now is to perhaps listen to some guided healing meditations free on YouTube. In my experience they can really do wonders at lifting the mood and speeding healing.

I've never tried them, but there are even overnight sleep healing meditations you can play while you're sleeping.

I’m so sad for you @Ellener Xo

Have you tried soaking in a hot detoxifying bath at all?  Steam is good for breathing.  Also maybe try Vick’s under your nose and as a chest rub to open up breathing.

And as always, sip hot chicken broth.

I know you don’t drink but perhaps a hot toddy could work some magic too.

Please feel better hon.
