do Narcissists Love Bomb?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I ended things with my girlfriend over a month ago and am finding it a little bit hard to move on but I'm getting there.

I suspect that she is a narcissist as her mother has been diagnosed as being one (this could be hereditary), and that looking back I was 'love bombed' pretty much throughout our relationship.

I always felt as if I was put on a pedestal and was made to feel like a king, she made me feel adored/said all the right things even though deep down I knew that it made me slightly uncomfortable.

I guess my point in this post is that I'm just looking to vent after bottling things up about her.

Yes, Narcissists probably do love bomb.  But so do people who are in the throes of the rush of adrenaline and hormones.   I arguably love bombed my husband 30 years ago....and we're still together, so it's really a moot point.

What happened with your ex?

While some narcissists love-bomb, there are plenty of others who do the same who are not narcissists in the clinical sense.

In other words, love-bombing in and of itself is not necessarily an indication of narcissism.

It seems more like chronic incompatibility. She was much more affectionate and expressive than you.

It sounds more like you miss her and this is the typical "my ex is a narcissist" type of licking your wounds.

Work on yourself and reflect on what you want in a GF.

Narcissists tend to lovebomb then once the victim is hooked, manipulate the situation so it suits them best.
That often involves isolating and even abusing the victim to make them do as they want.
The victim desperate to make it all right again, will be putty in their hands
If they then get fed up or find another better victim they will start to devalue, and then ultimately discard the first victim... From hero to zero...
Sometimes they will even cycle back to love bombing if it is in their interests to do so... This giving of affection then withholding it intermittently can be addictive, the victim becomes an addict... they can't leave...

Plenty people will love bomb, especially if they are besotted or cannot believe their luck.
They are not narcissists.
