pepperbird
a question re: antibody levels. When doing an antibody panel for autoimmune diseases, does a "positive" Sm antibody finding (paired with a positive ANA) always indicate lupus? Does the number matter, or just that's it's positive? introverted1
ANA is not specific for lupus as it can be elevated in a number of conditions, many benign. Your doctor should be able to educate you on the tests that are specific for lupus.
